Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’s Post

The invisible threat: How climate change, health factors and access to medical products are driving antimicrobial resistance (AMR). In a world where pandemics pose an ever-increasing threat, it is critical to understand and combat the full extent of AMR.   Last week, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation participated at the AMR Conference in Basel, where strategies and the specific challenges the innovation ecosystem faces in bringing new antimicrobial treatments and diagnostics to the market were discussed.   The SDC was advocating for:   🔸 Ensuring access to essential antibiotics for people in low- and middle-income countries. 🔸 Promote sustainable, affordable and effective antibiotics. 🔸 Improve the systems and partnerships needed to distribute these antibiotics to those in need. 🔸 Continued commitment from policy makers, joint country efforts and cross-sectoral collaboration.   The aim is to ensure the effectiveness of these vital medicines for the wellbeing of future generations.  #powerofantibiotics Global Antibiotic R&D Partnership (GARDP) World Health Organization MedAccess BEAM Alliance
