Challenging times ⚡ in the German (+European!) #wine 🍷 market: 1 - Frost Damage: German winemakers are facing challenges due to frost damage in their vineyards this year. Late April frosts occurred when the vines were already budding, making the blossoms particularly vulnerable to freezing temperatures. Interestingly, the frost affected not only ground-level areas but also higher plant levels that are usually less impacted. 2 - Pressure on Prices: While market forces suggest that prices should rise, German winemakers are not operating in isolation. They face intense competition from international wine producers. Consequently, it’s difficult for affected wineries to actually realize the higher prices they theoretically could charge. 3 - Struggles for Uninsured Wineries: The frost damage poses significant difficulties for wineries that are not insured. Many of these wineries sell their wine as bulk wine, and they may not survive the financial strain caused by the frost. 4 - Challenges in the German (and European!) Wine Market: The overall situation in the German wine market is already tense. In 2023, due to inflation-related purchasing power losses, consumers turned to more affordable foreign wines. Domestic wine prices in supermarkets increased by an average of 31 cents per liter, outpacing international counterparts. Higher operating costs are likely to lead to price increases again this year. Transparency on the plate in gastronomy? It’s not only possible – it’s happening! I’m incredibly proud 😊 of the Planted, Food Service Innovation Lab, and Seedtrace teams for bringing this groundbreaking project to life. Where do the ingredients in my vegan Currywurst actually come from? Anyone dining in the restaurant who wants to understand the origins of their meal can now gain deep insights into the supply chain like never before – every step from harvest to preparation in the kitchen is made visible. 🕵♀️ This is a game-changer for gastronomy, and I believe it’s just the beginning. To all suppliers, processors, brands, and gastronomy businesses: "Impossible” isn’t in our vocabulary. Let’s reimagine food transparency together and give consumers the trust and clarity they deserve. If you’re ready to take your supply chain to the next level, I’d love to connect and help bring more transparency to your table. #SupplyChain #FoodTransparency #Innovation #Gastronomy #Collaboration
If you have eaten out in London or New York, you might be familiar with the concept: You can reserve a table, but you might have to leave after 2 hours. Now, more and more Swiss restaurants also use time limits for their guests. Here's why and what gastronomers like Daniel Wiesner, Napulé and Bindella Unternehmungen have to say about it. https://lnkd.in/ga5CE_Z2 #gastronomy #restaurant #doubleseating #trend #timelimit

How can a winery show the actual value of its wines? How could people understand this uniqueness? My answer is: — Through the value of art. And connection with the right audience, of course. Château Mouton-Rothschild has collaborated with the world's greatest painters and sculptors since 1945, and everybody knows that. However, what people often overlook is that you don’t need to be Rothschild to find an artist who can represent the soul of your wine. And here is how my Winetime agency helps amazing, but not yet famous, wineries to succeed: ♦️ We create online personal brands for winemakers, reaching new people on a new level. ♦️ Find artists who match the soul of the winery’s brand. ♦️ And create unforgettable art collaborations! You know all about wine technology and bouquets. I know how to reach out to artists and promote your brand online. DM me if you're interested in learning more.

RAISE THE HAND! Raise your hand if you can identify an important tourist destination and the wine territory and appellation that corresponds to it. I know someone will tell me they didn't understand the question, 😥 but this is precisely the point of the argument: in part, it is a lack of curiosity on the part of consumers (I'm getting tired of calling them wine tourists!), in large part, it is still because even though wine tourism is optimistically on the rise, the promotion bodies continue strictly to proceed in the vein of 'we have always done it this way' and pay no attention whatsoever to how the consumer world 😲 around them thinks and how 'exploiting' the notoriety of the destination in which they operate can be beneficial to all. Last summer, I visited an area trying to fuse the two, not least because their 'Wine Route' turned 70 years old in 2024. 🎂 Unfortunately, despite consciously investing in promoting the area and representing a critical wine-producing region in Germany, I could not find a line about the road's 70th birthday in English. I certainly expected it in something other than Italian. The Baden Wine Route coincides for a few kilometers with the Black Forest, 🌲 one of the most popular destinations in the country's southwest. Baden is also a prestigious region for Riesling and Pinot Noir. 🍇 It is an area described by Emperor Joseph II of Habsburg-Lorraine as 'It is here that Germany begins to become Italy.' For those who decide to pass through Baden Baden, there is a tasting of wines from the region every Friday at 2:30 p.m. Zum Wohl! 🥂 Baden-Baden Tourism Board Baden-Badener Weinhaus Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH #winesfromeurope #winetourism #wineregion #winediscovery #wineambassadors #itsfromeurope #wineconnoisseurs #wineexperience #winewalkingtours
