🌟 Join Araceli Biosciences at AACR Booth #4359! 🌟 While I may be missing out on the high content imaging action at Araceli's booth at #AACR2024, I couldn't help but try some imaging of my own back home! ☀ 🌑 Here in Massachusetts, the eclipse hit about 93% and I took a few minutes to take in this rare phenomenon. It turns out, photographing an eclipse with a cellphone and some eclipse glasses is a bit complicated and my picture certainly won't be winning any awards, but it does serve as a fun memory of the day. As I look at the professional eclipse pictures online, it's also a reminder that you need the right tools for the job. Photographing the eclipse with a phone on a whim may be hard, but imaging your high content assays doesn't have to be. 📢 New study published in Journal of Applied Ergonomics about dynamic coordination in complex systems by Lida David 🎉 (together with Jan Maarten Schraagen & Maaike Endedijk)! 📰 In this study, Lida explores the dynamic nature of coordination within complex sociotechnical systems, using NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Apollo 13 Mission as a case study. Because traditional methods often overlook real-time adjustments, THEME software -a digital analytical tool- was used to visualize and explore these changes. We would be lying if we said we haven’t been fascinated by space ever. From making those school projects of the solar system to watching all mind-boggling visuals in sci-fi movies to “becoming an astronaut” being the first ambition in life as kids, space has been one of the first fascinations for a lot of us. The fascination now only grows with seeing how some innovators in this sector are building real yet out of the world businesses. While the western world now has a fairly advanced economy across the space value chain, India has been showcasing global leadership with its cost-effective and bold space exploration programmes. Thanks to ISRO, India also has the requisite talent and a decent supply chain to potentially build upon and become a future global leader and exporter in space tech. 🚀Groundbreaking news! It's finally official - our experiments will fly into space!🚀 July 1, 2024, was a historic and groundbreaking day at the Space Technology Center AGH and AGH University of Krakow. We signed a contract with the European Space Agency - ESA. We are proud to announce that the research experiment MXene in LEO, on which we have been secretly working for 9 months, will be realized! But what is this all about? The research team, consisting of Prof. Tadeusz Uhl (director of STC), Dr. Eng. Shreyas Srivatsa, PhD (experiment coordinator), Dr. Agata Maria Kołodziejczyk, Dr. Eng. Krzysztof Grabowski, MSc. Eng. Dagmara S., and MSc. Eng. Wojciech Guziewicz, can now officially announce their project "MXene Material and Wearable Device Experiments in Low-Earth Orbit Space Habitat" - or in short "MXene in LEO". The experiments focus on the study of MXene nanomaterials and MXene wearable devices made with bacterial cellulose (naturally-produced) substrate that can be used during manned space missions. And now they will fly into space! The project will involve measuring human pulse using MXene wearable devices during a mission on the International Space Station. This experiment will expand knowledge about the potential use of MXene-based sensors in space. It will demonstrate the technological capabilities of such devices. The results will enable more effective monitoring of astronauts' vital parameters during space missions, with the possibility of future use of such devices in telemedicine on Earth. Funding for this work has been received from the European Space Agency - ESA.
