I'm in this photo somewhere, but so are dozens of i.c.stars |* Chicago's current and past program participants who are doing some amazing work as they step into tech careers and become leaders in their companies and join civic projects to give back to their neighborhoods. Next week, I'll be celebrating 2 years of working here and I can't believe how the time has flown and how the need for workplace development is needed now more than ever. Each 4-month training cycle has spots for 20 participants, but we receive over 300 applications from individuals looking for the opportunity to change their careers, build new skills, and invest in their future. Our participants are parents, siblings, children, gig workers, visionaries, and task masters. They may have a different backstory than me (and/or you), but as I learned 20 years ago when I started my professional journey as a social worker, we have much more in common with people than we do different and our backgrounds may inform our futures, but they definitely don't predict them. #TechTalent #FutureOfTech #IOpener #ICStars

Doubt used to run the show at my company, GXC for years. It showed up in every decision, every hesitation, every time someone said,  “What do you think we should do?” For years, I was the default problem-solver. Every issue landed on my desk.  Big or small, it was always, “Let’s see what Genaro thinks.” And honestly? I didn’t always get it right. I’d make a decision based on instinct, and when it didn’t work, they’d come back for another answer. And I’d think, “Why are you asking me again when I got it wrong the first time?” That cycle wasn’t helping anyone.  Not me. Not the company.  Not them. So I stepped back. I removed myself from the problem-solving tree. Not because I don’t care, but because I needed them to trust themselves. I needed them to think critically; to bring their own solutions to the table. Now, when a problem arises, my team doesn’t wait for my opinion— ➡️ They bring their ideas. ➡️ They take ownership.  ➡️ They solve. And here’s what’s happened since:  ➡️ GXC is exploding with possibility.  ➡️ Creativity is filling the space where doubt once lived.  ➡️ People are stepping up, thinking bigger, and solving problems faster. I’m not the smartest person in the room. I’ve never claimed to be. But I know this: When you give people the space to trust themselves, something incredible happens - they grow. And when they grow, everything around them grows too. Personal Growth = Business Growth.

This is not Normal. This is also not an Anomaly. This is Black Tech Saturdays. This is what an Actual Tech Community looks like. Being a Founder you constantly look at the possibilities of things, so we tend to have a slightly different perspective of events. What I see is an opportunity for Customer Discovery. I see hundreds of New Customers every event. I see people that can make connections that can change lives. I see networking practice with people that are just as nervous as you are. Johnnie Turnage and Alexa Turnage have built everything a Funded company needs to make it through the Pre-Seed and Seed stage organically. BTS is no longer just a Tech Community to me. It has become a Culture. Seeing Hundreds of People packed into Newlab at Michigan Central for a Pitch Competition on a Saturday afternoon was breathtaking. I have nothing to compare it to because there is no comparison. To think. This is still the beginning. WHEW!!!

I had the chance to speak on an internal panel for the "Get to Know Product Experience and Technology (PXT)" info and networking series at the Delaware Tech Center (DTC). It was a valuable opportunity to share insights and connect with colleagues across the quad. The aim of the session was to give our colleagues a chance to delve deeper into each of our Tech leadership roles and how we organize to support the PXT quad at Chase. Our quad model includes Product, Tech, Design and Data, which ensures we deliver exceptional solutions and experiences to our customers. At Chase, our collaborative Quad approach helps us answer critical questions: • Product: What should we build? Why should we build it? What value does it add? • Design: How can we delight our customers with this? • Data: Is it working? How can we improve it? • Tech: How can this be built? I appreciated the thoughtful questions from colleagues during the Q&A portion, it's great to chat with people live about what’s on their minds. 2024 for Authologic with new challenges in 2025 ahead!

So this is cool. It's a place where we share stories about the side projects our people are working on, simply because they're creators and creators can't stop creating, thinking, exploring, learning. Think of it as little sub-brand of nvisia dedicated to showcasing our in-house talent. What finds its way to the "nvisionaries" by nvisia page began as an idea or a question, maybe from client work, maybe not. Then it became an internal lunch & learn (or maybe a Meetup open to the public) or a personal blog post, and finally wound up here. Like magic. The work our people put into these projects is a reflection of who they are, first and foremost. And, taken together, it's also a reflection of our collective identity as the best bunch of technologists and software architects in the game.
