I am thrilled to share my journey through the Business Internship course led by Professor R. Ian Angell. This course has been the pinnacle of practical and valuable learning experiences during my time at TWU, transforming traditional education into a real-world mentorship under Professor Angell's guidance. Each week, our online meetings dive into various facets of entrepreneurship and startup culture. We work in groups, tackling different aspects and presenting our findings, followed by discussions and insightful evaluations from Professor Angell. Beyond our regular sessions, we have our channels on Teams where Professor Ian shares lots of interesting and helpful resources with us, such as LeaderImpact's event, Enactus, some great organizations, some interesting podcasts, and some of his interesting experiences and observations during his travels. A pivotal part of this course is that we have the opportunity to partner with a local tech startup business named Careerin, founded by Kenneth Ip. My role in helping build the startup's ecosystem has not only allowed me to step into the tech industry but also to expand my professional network significantly. Just last night, we wrapped up our regular meetings with a comprehensive review of the topics covered over the past four months. I had the privilege of presenting the "Key elements in a pitch deck," I used this course as an example to do a sales pitch to express my gratitude to Professor Ian Angell. So who are Marco Angell, Zhuoxiang Jiang, and Marco Jiang? 😂 Looking ahead, I am eagerly anticipating our final presentation next week, where we will report on our project with the intern business. This presentation is not just a summary of what we've learned but a showcase of how we've applied these lessons practically. I am proud to be part of this innovative course and the vibrant TWU community. **Starting My Journey with Young Innovator Internship 2.0** Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a bit about my first day at the Young Innovator Internship 2.0. We kicked things off with an overview of what we'll be doing for the next 10 weeks. We were welcomed by Sir Yash Dandavate, who is super inspiring. He started his entrepreneurial journey at 19, raised $700k, and has solved many problems along the way. Now, he's part of #Scaler and doing an awesome job spreading tech knowledge. Yash talked about how an innovator is someone who sits at the intersection of business and technology. He said you don’t need to know how to code to be a great entrepreneur. He even built an AI chatbot without knowing how to code, which was mind-blowing! He busted the myth that you have to be a coder to succeed in tech and told us to focus on understanding tech instead. He also shared some qualities of a true innovator: patience, persistence, and passion. He reminded us that we might not find solutions instantly, but with hard work and dedication, we can overcome any challenge. Seeing what the previous batches of YIIC have accomplished really fired me up to stay focused and take on this challenge. I’m super excited for the next 10 weeks. 🚀 Day 38 of my Summer Internship at LinuxWorld Informatics Pvt Ltd! 🚀 Today was a deep dive into the world of business and startups—an exhilarating journey into the essence of entrepreneurship. We had the privilege of being guided by an exceptional mentor who helped us navigate the complex path of starting up, revealing how to unlock our true potential in this ever-evolving landscape. We explored the global dynamics of the startup ecosystem, uncovering what it takes to thrive in this competitive environment. From managing cash flow and securing funding to overcoming market challenges, the session highlighted the intense dedication and hard work required to build something truly impactful. The day also introduced us to crucial startup concepts like equity vs. debt, the power of growth hacking, social media strategies, and content marketing. We even delved into MVP development, intellectual property, UX/UI design, and the vital role of customers as the first investors. Our afternoon was filled with strategic thinking as we conducted a SWOT analysis and crafted a business model for our product. We discussed everything from validation and key performance indicators to go-to-market strategies and investor expectations. Understanding TAM (Total Addressable Market) and capital requirements was another key takeaway, rounding out a day packed with invaluable insights. Last Friday, I had the opportunity to attend the StartupSouth9 conference. #StartupSouth is a reputable brand dedicated to helping startups within the South-South and South-East ecosystem in Nigeria thrive. Each year, they connect investors to founders through this conference and provide actionable insights from international business leaders to drive the digital and creative economy forward. One of the highlights of this conference was the breakout session on "The Future of Work," led by Harry Porbeni. Here are a few key takeaways: - Workplaces are increasingly prioritizing skills and value over educational backgrounds and class of degree. Some ways to gain relevant skills include volunteering, internships, and apprenticeships, which can significantly enhance one’s value - The 4Fs employee should prioritize are: Flexibility, Fulfillment, Financial Stability, and Fairness. - Understanding how to effectively leverage AI in your field is essential for driving efficiency and productivity in today’s rapidly evolving workplace.
