Factory waste is the dominant source of carbon fiber (CF) waste today—and this trend will likely continue for the next decade. This is largely due to the relatively low CF demand before 2015, when global annual consumption was under 50 kilotons—less than half of today’s demand. Factory waste is primarily generated by either CFRP manufacturers or CFRP-based part manufacturers. The volume of waste will be influenced by two key factors: the demand of CF and the concentration of manufacturing facilities.
