Innovafeed, is a biotechnology company, and leading insect producer for animal and plant nutrition. This week's ribbon cutting for the opening of their first North American Insect Innovation Center(NAIIC) in Decatur, Illinois, felt more like a cool high school science field trip. It was a pleasure to join Kristol Whatley Simms, Eric Whitfield, CEcD, Nicole Bateman, Kristin Richards, Governor JB Pritzker, Darcy Conner, Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and the Innovafeed and ADM teams in Decatur (The Soy Bean Capital of the World) for this ribbon cutting event of agricultural technology. Innovafeed is a French owned company that has partnered with ADM to build a facility in Decatur adjacent to the ADM plant. They will be using ADM's byproducts to raise insects to be used as protein for animal feed. The current facility is an R&D operation to harvest black soldier flies. The first phase will acclimate the soldier flies to the Illinois climate, and the second phase is where they will ramp up to full production at what will be their first site in America. The movie A Bug's Life has new meaning to me. 🌟 Celebrating Success: Accomplishing the Innosuisse Project 🌟 We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Innosuisse project with remarkable achievements that pave the way for revolutionary advancements in precision feeding! The recently concluded Pocket Feed Lab project, a collaboration between aikemy GmbH and Agroscope, aimed to provide on-site, efficient, and accurate feed testing at an affordable price. This handheld NIRS device for nutritional analysis of crops and feed ingredients marks a significant milestone towards our broader goal of revolutionary precision feeding. Key highlights from the project enclosure summary include: ✅ Significantly enhancing industry efficiency and cost-effectiveness by enabling more frequent testing and formulating more precise diets, resulting in an estimated ROI of ~$30,000 per 100 tons of feed. ✅ Mitigating the production industry's environmental footprint by cutting nutrient waste, thereby reducing the risk of water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Published studies have shown that precision feeding can cut nitrogen waste by 18% in broiler production. We are immensely proud of the impact and potential of the Pocket Feed Lab in transforming the agricultural sector and promoting sustainability. Today was that kind of unforgettable day in where we saw how we are evolving ! Today we officially inaugurated our new added research and development capacity in two sites Beauzelles and Blagnac. For all the R&D teams present in the site, it means an acceleration in our capabilities to make more projects ! It means a transformative potential in our approach in microorganisms development recognizing the complexity and diversity of all the microbiomes from different ecosystems. The recognition of the key role of R&D also implies a commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability of our research possibilities. Therefore, today we saw the power of this change making a new « possible » … thanks to all R&D collaborators in Blagnac and Beauzelle for this important step but also to our global management to trust us in this acceleration.

It’s been a pleasure meeting our biological development partners some weeks ago. First up, a close exchange with Alejandro de las Casas Pérez, co-founder of Kimitec.  Our catch-up was a powerful reminder of just why we engage in partnerships. It’s not to make ourselves feel good, or as an ‘extra’ on top of our core business. In fact, it is part of our core business – because partnerships are essential to achieving our goal to unleash biologicals’ potential globally. Highlights by André Dias (Executive Director LATAM at Kynetec): - Biocontrol market value grows at a CAGR of 37% between 2018/9 and 2022/3. - Potential Area Treated (PAT) grows at a CAGR of 32% between 2018/9 and 2022/3 (Cultivated area increases + Technology level increases for nematicides, fungicides and sucking insects). - Main biological organisms: Trichoderma is used on 18% of PAT, Beauveria b. on 14% of PAT and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens on 9% of PAT. - Across Brazil, 35% of growers have adopted biologicals, with higher levels of adoption in the Central West States. - 89% of the PAT for nematode control in soybean is treated with biologicals (2022/3). - Biologicals growth outpaces the chemical market by two-fold each year. - Growers are choosing biologicals for cost efficiency, with value capture prioritized over cost reduction. - The regulatory environment facilitates innovation, with biologicals registrations taking around 25% of the time of conventional molecules.
