PUBLICATION The "Er:YAG laser-assisted periimplantitis total therapy (Er:LPTT)"—a novel procedure to perform periimplantitis treatment with bone regeneration therapy — In this clinical study, Er:YAG laser irradiation with no water spray was employed to stabilize InterOss® by blood coagulation instead of using a membrane. The bone regeneration was succesful, and radiographic examination at 2 years post-operative showed a favorable bone-like dense tissue around the implant. QUADRATUS LUMBORUM INJECTION - RIGHT L1 TVP Patient seen today for diagnostic injection to the insertion of the quadratus lumborum at the right L1 transverse process. The injection was performed in an attempt to localize the source of her pain. If she gets significant temporary relief then I will treat it more definitively with either PRP or prolotherapy. An important key here is to make sure that the needle doesn't go THROUGH the QL and into the underlying kidney! Needle visualization and control is paramount. The facet joint can be seen above and to the left of the transverse process. And to the left of that is the spinous process. These three points-- spinous process, facet, transverse process-- create the classic "trident" or "lazy W" appearance of the lumbar spine in transverse. An 81-year-old patient with a complex medical history, including two previous mitral valve replacements and a left atrial appendage (LAA) occluder for atrial fibrillation, presented with mitral prosthesis stenosis. Using the valve-in-valve technique, we successfully performed a transapical mitral valve implantation to address this challenging case.
