What is the best authentication app for your business? The two main ones are Google and Microsoft. So they're the two that we're going to be going through in this video. There are other ones, but these are the two biggest generally have the most investment with the most features. So when we're comparing the two authentication apps, generally we're looking at the paid examples. So often if you're with Microsoft 365 and you're paying a monthly or an annual subscription, then you authentication app will have all of these features. So number one is the user experience and the overall interface. So Google tends to be a much easier simpler interface, but it is a little bit more basic. You do get more features overall with the Microsoft app. However it's not quite as easy to use straight out of the box. You kind of need to know where to navigate. Area two that we looked at is backup and recovery. Google used to be pretty bad for its backup and recovery. However, in recent updates, they have improved it. So just make sure if you're already using Google that you have updated to the latest version. In terms of Microsoft's. The cloud backup that it comes with is particularly good. Number three we looked at is Cross-platform support. So what's it like on the different platforms? In terms of Google, it's relatively static. It works on iOS. So Apple or it works on Android because then you Google. It doesn't have a desktop feature. Whereas with Microsoft it works on both Apple and Android, but also Microsoft platforms as well. And it does have a desktop app. So it can be much easier depending on your location and how you're using technology. Number four, we looked at additional features. What does it actually do? Google is very static. It literally is just two factor authentication. Put in your username and your password. It will then use the app to give you a code, or to ping to then enter into the software that you're trying to log into. Whereas with Microsoft actually has a couple of different features. So it will do the standard two factor authentication, but it will also do push notifications, which can be really handy and just save time for the user. It also has a password management element and also sync across the cloud platforms. The fifth element was security. So with Microsoft, it does have a full cloud backup version. And there's also multiple ways that you can really access it. If you were to lose your device or needed to restrict the access. With Google, it's much more simplified. But it is relatively restricted. But there is a local admin access that you can gain through it. And then number six was overall, how is it like for the notifications? Microsoft gives you the ability to either enter code into it or actually receive push notifications. So when you do use your username and password, it will then actively push to the device so that you can just click yes and access what you're trying to do. Whereas with Google you have to manually type in the codes. So it's only really a couple of seconds difference, but it can be much easier just to receive the push notification. So we hope you found that useful. The main rules are. Pick one and get everyone within the business to use it. Also make sure that you add this into your onboarding and off boarding processes for the business. What you don't want to happen is you might get everyone using it now, but then as your business grows and your team evolve, you need to make sure that everyone's doing it in the same way.
