Briefly Bio, a techbio startup, has secured $1.2 million in pre-seed funding to address the reproducibility crisis in preclinical research. The funding round, led by Compound VC with participation from NP Hard, Tiny VC, and angel investors, will support Briefly Bio's mission to improve scientific collaboration and accelerate discovery through consistent experiment documentation. The company's software utilizes AI to convert existing experiment descriptions into a consistent format, automatically filling gaps and spotting errors. This approach helps capture the value of every experiment, enabling scientists to learn from each other's work effectively. 'Scientific methods are a bit like software code, they are a set of instructions that define how an experiment should be run,' said Harry Rickerby, CEO and co-founder at Briefly Bio. 'Now, with LLMs, there's a way to make these methods consistent without imposing on a scientists' workflow.' Briefly Bio aims to create a shared language for experiments, facilitating collaboration among scientists, data scientists, and automation teams. By addressing the reproducibility crisis, the company aims to accelerate scientific discovery and generate reliable experimental results. #reproducibility #scientificdiscovery #labautomation
