South Africa is forging ahead with the implementation of the National Health Insurance (NHI) bill, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced, despite facing robust opposition from both within the government and external entities. The NHI initiative seeks to provide universal healthcare coverage through a comprehensive overhaul of the nation’s existing bifurcated healthcare system. President Ramaphosa ratified the bill shortly before the May elections, during which his African National Congress (ANC) experienced a decline, losing its parliamentary majority. In a speech delivered on Tuesday evening at the culmination of an ANC policy conference, Ramaphosa articulated the imperative for equitable, quality healthcare accessible to all South Africans. “We have highlighted the social and economic value of affordable, accessible, quality healthcare that is available equally to all South Africans,” Ramaphosa affirmed. “We will therefore proceed with the implementation of the National Health Insurance.” To read the full article follow this link: https://lnkd.in/deDAhjbv hashtag#DailyNews hashtag#TopStories hashtag#LocalNews hashtag#CityNews hashtag#WorldNews hashtag#InternationalNews hashtag#GlobalNews hashtag#Politics hashtag#PoliticalNews hashtag#Government hashtag#Elections hashtag#BusinessNews hashtag#Economy hashtag#MarketUpdate hashtag#FinanceNews hashtag#TechNews hashtag#TechUpdate hashtag#Innovation hashtag#EntertainmentNews hashtag#CelebrityNews hashtag#MovieNews hashtag#MusicNews hashtag#SportsNews

#Quebec, #Canada: #HealthInsurance Plan for #InternationalStudents In Canada each individual province determines the rules on #healthcare, and they significantly vary from each other. Some provinces offer cover to international students while some others do not. Canada has a public healthcare system that offers government health services to citizens and permanent residents, but the decision as to whether to extend this to temporary residents (including international students) varies by province. For international students in Quebec, understanding whether they are eligible for public health insurance through the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) is essential. In the face of ongoing cost-of-living pressures, Australians wanting to retain their private health insurance (PHI) are downgrading or dropping their cover, new data suggests, however more people appear to be taking up their cover for optical extras and ophthalmic procedures. Data from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has shown that while PHI membership and coverage has increased steadily throughout 2024, health fund premium revenue decreased by $52 million in the first half of 2024. This decrease suggests policy holders are downgrading or dropping their cover as cost-of-living pressures continue to bite. This is according to Private Healthcare Australia (PHA), the peak body representing 98% of Australia’s private health insurance sector. #insurance #healthcare #ophthalmology

If you've been in the industry of health care- for any length of time, you have some understanding of how profits rule and patients suffers. One of the ways this occurs is through the endless strategies or inadequacies some might refer to them as, of the Insurance companies regarding HOW THEY PAY OUT. While CostReductionPartners focuses on how they are neglecting to pay out far more than the previously understood 5%-6%, through Medical Underpayments (discovering the truth is averaging at 20+% widtheld in the form or Medical Underpayments to Providers.. it is also true, as many have experienced first hand, that the PATIENT suffers from what the Insurance companies are willing to COVER. What to do about this part of the story??? I do not have an answer for. https://lnkd.in/ep6-RPGE

Frequent disputes between private hospital groups and insurers is eroding the confidence Australians have in private health insurance arrangements. The latest disputes between Healthscope and each of Bupa and the Australian Health Service Alliance serve as a stark reminder of the need for a Private Health System Authority. At the end of the day, it's the patients who suffer when these disputes break out, as it often leads to higher out-of-pocket costs and confusion. A Private Health System Authority could help resolve disputes like these, but more importantly, it could drive long-term reform and ensure the sector is appropriately regulated and patients get real value for money from their private health insurance. We have been calling for an independent authority for a number of years and we have been pleased to see other stakeholders support our campaign. Recent guidelines introduced by IRDAI encourage insurers to make health insurance more inclusive by designing products that cater to all age groups. This means, senior citizens will now have better access to health insurance products with insurers expected to develop senior-friendly policies. ✅ Akash Tiwari, our Head of Health Underwriting said, “Reducing the PED waiting period is advantageous for seniors who often contend with age-related ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, and musculoskeletal issues. Similarly, lowering the moratorium period from 8 to 5 years will enhance transparency and fairness in claims processing.” Find out more in this Outlook Money story by Versha Jain: https://lnkd.in/gKJ9h7pK [Health, senior citizens, wellness, insurance]
