How is the 4:30 Meetup different from a typical networking event? 🤔 In most networking spaces, everyone has an independent agenda. The purpose of gathering is to boost each person's individual business success and give them opportunities to do the same for others. 🤝 But at the 4:30 Meetup, we gather for one purpose: to support a cause!! That SHARED purpose gives everyone in the room permission to forget the business cards and sales pitches. Instead, you'll find yourself bonding with others based on your stories. You'll be reminded of our common humanity and responsibility to take care of each other during the nonprofit presentation. And you'll leave knowing that you've been a part of something bigger than yourself. ❤️ If that sounds like a fun Tuesday night, support @rootsandwings_legacy by grabbing a ticket to the 4:30 Meetup. Each one includes a 50% donation to the cause - and you'll get to hear its story firsthand. TICKETS: https://buff.ly/3TmtYii #RelationshipsOverEverything #NoJerks

How do you show the impact of your events? Yesterday I worked with a customer on their fundraiser event. They wanted to collect video testimony from event attendees, but weren’t sure what questions to ask to solicit stories. Maybe you want to collect stories from your gathering, too. Here are 7 questions you could consider asking at your upcoming event to collect testimony. 1) What inspired you to attend this event? 2) What has been the best part of today’s event? (or) What one moment sticks out most? 3) How did you first learn about this event? 4) Describe this gathering in one word. 5) What did you learn from today’s event? 6) What’s the biggest impact this event will have? 7) Why should someone come to this gathering next year? Don’t overthink it. Questions don’t need to be overly complicated to elicit good stories. But they do need to be specific, clear, and help point the individual to specific memories or moments in time. Ask great questions to get great stories. #events #fundraisers #storytelling

A Development Director recently asked me, "How do I justify spending resources on all these engagement events? Explain it like I’m 12: how do these activities lead to more gifts?” I was torn! On the one hand, an expectation of most engagement teams is that their activities support fundraising goals. On the other hand, the expectation of most attendees is that these activities support THEIR goals! So I’m going to spend 30 days posting ways to make events more meaningful to attendees, AND more “justifiable” to organizations. Heads up: philosophically I don’t believe that the primary goal of “all these” events should be to get donations. But I do know that well-produced events foster connections and swell pride, and that combination eventually inspires generosity... OK, see you Monday and then every weekday for 30 days!

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭: Nonprofits, here is my LinkedIn Monday initiative where I will ask YOU a question at the top of the week. I am encouraging responses directly from your practitioners (i.e., you can be an active/retired ED, a fundraiser, a prospect researcher, an event coordinator…any role possible within a nonprofit). The intention is to actively create a safe and welcoming space where these posts can a). encourage practitioners to share their wisdom, and b). I and my network can learn from a different voice. If commenting on a post is not your way, you can send me a direct message, and I will report your response anonymously. ********************************************************** 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤’𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: When you attend a webinar or conference, if and how do you bring/test ideas you learned back into your work? In other words, how do you make your learned ideas actionable?. #nonprofits #nonprofitleadership #community

Giving Tuesday! ✨ A big reason I started my business BisonHeartGroup, LLC is because I love nonprofits, small businesses, and supporting local. It’s the heart of everything I do. My entire career has been centered on giving, helping, serving, and supporting others and I wouldn’t have it any other way. On this Giving Tuesday, I encourage you to support a nonprofit that resonates with you. It’s about more than just giving money (though that helps too!). Here’s how you can make an impact: 💡 Volunteer your time – Even an hour can make a difference. 💬 Share their story – Like, comment, or share their posts to amplify their message. ❤️ Spread awareness – Tell a friend about their mission and why it matters. When we come together, we can do so much more. Let’s lift up the organizations that make our communities stronger. Who are you supporting today? Drop their name in the comments so we can all learn more! I want to know! Bisonheartgoup.com
