In its annual report entitled "Accelerating the Private Sector for Food Systems Transformation in Africa" the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa AGRA seeks to clarify and deepen our understanding of the private sector in Africa, particularly in the agri-food industry by presenting an analysis of its various components. The report also proposes policies and business models to foster a more inclusive and productive agri-food System on the continent. Unlocking Africa’s agricultural power to ensure food security for all Africa holds 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land, yet still relies on food imports. To unlock its agricultural potential and ensure food security, experts at the "Africa Unlocked" conference stressed the need for improved technology, infrastructure, and financial access for small-scale farmers. They highlighted opportunities in agri-processing, intra-African trade, and public-private partnerships, while calling for better policies and food safety standards to reduce reliance on imports and boost self-sufficiency.
