Ethics Over Opportunity: A Reflection on Interview Integrity- On 27th September 2024, I had an interview with Godrej Agrovet Limited for a position in the Raw Material Procurement Department at their Mumbai Head Office. During the interview, I was asked to disclose the names and details of vendors from my previous employer, CPF Group, information that I considered confidential. I found this request unethical and refused to share such details, as it would violate the trust of my former company placed in me. At that moment, the interviewer issued an ultimatum, stating that if I didn’t reveal the information within 30 seconds, they would not continue with the interview process. Despite the pressure, I stood by my principles and refused to compromise the confidentiality of my past organization. My loyalty to the responsibilities I held and to the values of integrity were more important to me than securing a position at the expense of ethical conduct. This experience prompts me to ask—how would any organization feel if one of their former employees disclosed confidential information to a competitor in order to gain employment? Ethical practices and professional loyalty should always be valued, regardless of the circumstance. I remain proud of my decision to prioritise integrity and professionalism, and I believe these qualities are fundamental to building trust in any business relationship.
