This cheeky video is brilliant, perfectly ironic and clarion that AI will force us to redefine our attitudes toward work. I've tracked the issue of "technological unemployment" since it was a concept, and clearly see it headed toward us like a tsunami gaining exponential speed after an earthquake ... as we're experiencing with AI. The time is now to think of what is needed in a world of technological unemployment ... more acceptance that we may all need to work less (who defined work needing to be 40 hours?), more pursuit of leisure and fun (think what most feel at retirement), more engagement with others (for those old enough, remember how families and neighbors used to like and rely on each other), self-reliance due to limited income (having one's own garden, knowing how to make repairs), and acceptance that perhaps the meaning of life is not to work to live but to work less and live more. Of course the implications are profound regarding how to guide our children and ourselves as work dissolves like sand in water.

Back when I first envisioned Prepmed.in, people thought I was crazy—a #doctor turning to #education, rejecting multiple and extreme high package offer jobs and #dedicating late nights and every free moment to help young #NEET aspirants? They said the path was too #tough, too #risky, too #uncertain. 🛤️ They said that a job is required for a #secured future and I am making a big mistake #denying such great #offers which people dream of getting. But here's the #truth: the #fire inside me was #stronger than the #doubts around me. 🔥 #Sleepless nights, countless #challenges, and endless #rejections only fueled the resolve to create something that could change #lives. Today, when I see our #students ace their #exams, I am reminded that #resilience and #vision can move mountains. 🌄 Take J.K. Rowling, who faced numerous rejections before "Harry Potter" finally saw the light of day, or Elon Musk, who nearly lost everything to keep his #ventures alive. Their stories remind us that every giant leap begins with a #will strong enough to shatter any obstacle. To anyone facing #struggles—whether #personal or #professional—remember this: your will can be your #superpower. Tap into it, push #forward, and believe in the path you are #carving. 💪✨ #Dream big. Keep moving. The way will reveal itself. #Motivation #Willpower #Dream #Futuredoctor #spirit #Inspiration #NEETAspirants #Prepmed #Education #Teachers #Faculty

Imagine being a kid in 1966 and predicting the future. Now, I must say, these kids are strangely astute and incredibly eloquent for their age, but what they say is surprisingly accurate. I'm pretty sure they did it without fancy data sets or sophisticated analytical tools and without overthinking their answers. Instead, a positive imagination, keen observations, and a dash of pessimism were all it took—not-so-superpowers that we all have access to to generate foresight. They saw a world with more automation, a shift from houses to flats, greater ethnic and socioeconomic inclusivity, robots joining the workforce, rising temperatures, and more intensive cattle farming. I mean, the last one is so specific that I think they might be time travellers! But I love that they're creating foresight by mixing a positive imagination to imagine significant societal changes, with predictions tinged with pessimism, even as children. Now, pessimism might be an odd thing to love, especially as I'm a very optimistic person. Still, this sense of realism is what makes their predictions so impactful (they anticipated issues like environmental degradation and the complexities of integrating technology into everyday life). So, other than the potential to hire children to do my job, I thought it was a good reminder that to visualise the future, we need to have a positive imagination, keen observations, and a dash of pessimism.

Thank you, Learning for Justice! In a world that thrives on quick fixes and surface-level interactions, the power of deep intellectual and pragmatic thought is something we must lift up and honor. It’s through thoughtful, intentional dialogue that we challenge assumptions, explore new ideas, and create solutions that truly impact lives. Spaces that value and encourage this type of thinking are vital, now more than ever. We need more spaces that not only welcome but nurture intellectual curiosity and practical solutions. These are the places where real progress happens—where theory meets practice, and where ideas transform into action. Let’s continue to build and uplift these spaces, where everyone’s thoughts and contributions are valued, and where we all grow together.
