How to welcome a new employee the right way? It is important to prepare thoroughly for your employee’s first day to start their journey on the right foot. The first 6 months are always a difficult learning curve so it is important to work hard to retain the new employee. Here are some of my top tips: 👉 Make sure that the onboarding documents are sent, signed and returned before their start date. 👉 Prepare their workspace – including equipment, office supplies and email access - prior to them starting. 👉 If it's not a new role, prepare a handover schedule for them to complete and make sure that they are happy it’s achievable before the leaving employee finishes their notice period. 👉 If it's a job creation, you will need to think about a training schedule. 👉 Assign them a mentor - someone who will answer their questions, and who they can turn to if they are experiencing issues. 👉 Make sure they are greeted enthusiastically and check in with them at the end of their first day and throughout their early employment. 👉 Remember mistakes will happen, it's a great way for them to learn and for you to put in extra controls and training where needed. #RecruitmentProcess #NewStarter #NewEmployee

L&D, Let's say you're starting a new job soon. What's YOUR new employee wish list for learning? So often we are thinking ABOUT the new employee, but sometimes it helps to take a moment and think LIKE them. Of course, we may have different preferences. Please share yours! We can do some informal data gathering in the comments and learn from each other. 😊 My top few preferences for my wish list would be as follows: ➡ MAKE IT WELL-ORGANIZED. I have the equipment I need and people know I'm coming. Plus, I've always loved it when someone hands me a schedule for the first few weeks. It makes me feel like they thought about me and they are taking my onboarding seriously. ➡ TELL/SHOW ME HOW INFO RELATES. Help me put info from onboarding/training into context. How does this relate to the bigger picture of how the company works? How does it relate to my role? ➡ HANDS-ON LEARNING. I don't want people to talk at me. I want to dig in and play around. Give me some basic info and a practice assignment or two and I'll get to work. ➡ ONE-ONE TIME WITH MY SUPERVISOR. Plenty of time with this person to discuss and debrief what I'm learning and ask my questions. Also get to know them. Ideally, there would be daily time. What are the top items on your wish list? Please share and we'll get ideas from each other! #learninganddevelopment #onboarding #talentdevelopment #newemployees #learning

Starting a new job can be daunting, especially when you feel invisible and undervalued. But it doesn't have to be that way! I know from experience that a little effort goes a long way in making new hires feel welcomed and appreciated. That's why I took the initiative to create an onboarding process for my department, and it worked wonders! Now, I'm sharing my tips with you. One small step you can take is to send a welcome email a week before the start date, including the name of your contact or buddy for the day. It may seem like a small gesture, but it can make all the difference. Other things that have worked for me include providing a welcome pack with essentials like a notebook, pen, USB, and lanyard, a tour of the campus, and ensuring that tools like access cards and laptops are ready on day one. Let's make sure every new hire feels like a valued member of the team from day one. #onboardingexperience #newhire #success #partofateam #firstimpressionsmatter Overview. "Onboarding" refers to the processes in which new hires are integrated into the organization. It includes activities that allow new employees to complete an initial new-hire orientation process, as well as learn about the organization and its structure, culture, vision, mission and values.

Did you know 30% of new hires leave a job within the first three months? This highlights the critical nature of investing in a solid onboarding process and comprehensive training programs. From the moment a new team member joins, it's vital to make their integration process as smooth and informative as possible. Not only does this involve thorough training on services, product lines, and protocols, but also ensuring a warm, welcoming onboarding experience. Feeling overwhelmed in a new role can deter even the most enthusiastic employees. However, many product and technology brands provide training and sales support; if you’re without a dedicated training coordinator, leveraging these resources can significantly enhance your team's skill set and confidence. Remember, a well-trained employee is a confident and productive one. #EmployeeRetention #OnboardingSuccess

Pace yourself in the first few weeks and create a great onboarding experience to keep new hires engaged, committed, and prepared for the job. Avoid too much onboarding – overloading a new hire with so much information they’re left feeling overwhelmed and dissatisfied. Keep things manageable. 🔺Sand in a Funnel – Plan your orientation process. Start with the basics and clarify their relevance over the first week or two. Build on this foundation and its logical sequence over time. 🔺Be Real in Expectation and Responsibilities - You hired the right person, now guide them through their job description. Communicate your organization's vision and what you’re working to accomplish and how your new hire is adding to the big picture. 🔺Keep the Language Simple – Belonging from day one starts with verbal communication. Avoid too much company jargon and acronyms that can swirl the head. Err on the side of over-explaining and patience as they absorb your world. Hand them a glossary of industry terms. 🔷Takeaway: You have found the ideal new employee, so bring them on board by appreciating their learning style, not your zeal to make them productive. A planned start will avoid distractions for them and you. Have any questions? Call me. – Coach Mike #businesscoaching #onboarding #employeetraining
