🌟 Exciting news from WHO Europe's 74th Regional Committee meeting! 🚀🌍 Last week, I witnessed a pivotal moment at the 74th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe! Member States and partners unanimously supported the development of a groundbreaking "Strategy for Harnessing Innovation for Public Health in the WHO European Region 2025-2030." It was inspiring to hear Member States emphasize the urgency of this strategy, with 🔗 a clear call to bridge the gap between private sector innovation and public health systems. It’s time to align our efforts! 🔮 We must ensure that public health systems stay ahead of the curve regarding disruptive technologies and scientific breakthroughs, rather than being reactive in their regulatory roles. No more playing catch-up! 💡 This is the 4th Industrial Revolution—integrating public health into this technological transformation is not an option, but a necessity. We’re not merely observers; we’re active participants! 🌍 What sets the WHO European region apart is that innovations and institutions are largely in place. However, there remains a significant opportunity to harness the value of innovation that often lies at the intersection of science and the public sector through multistakeholder collaboration. 📈 There’s a growing consensus around enhancing understanding of innovation leadership and management within public health to maximize innovation impact. 🎯 The public sector should be capacitated to articulate its innovation needs, paving the way for solutions that address key gaps. It’s time to rethink the governance and financing model for the innovation ecosystem! While the regional strategy isn't a silver bullet, it is certainly a crucial step in the right direction. As the saying goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single bold step." https://lnkd.in/eTTTMwcF
