You're normal grooved feed section is the one part that's getting it's ass beaten all the time. No matter if you're going metal to the pedal with a pipe extrusion line or running highly abrasive white colour in your blown film line you know what I'm talking about 😄 Wearing of the grooves lowers your round output and that increases your screw rpm and that gives more heat due to shearing and viscous heating from inside the polymer melt and the next thing you know you're in trouble. Wrong design of the grooves will increase costs, cooling need and power consumption while reducing quality and life time of the parts. Correct choice off coating can increase the lifespan of your parts significantly and win some quality production time. #plasticextrusion #plasticrecycling

The use of primers in the extrusion lamination process can significantly reduce instances of delamination. The processing conditions used in extrusion lamination are very complicated and play an important role in promoting adhesion. This is especially true for structures with low poly coat weights on paper. If adhesion between substrates is too low, the poly can separate from the paper and wrap the chill roll causing downtime. Applying primers in these low adhesion situations can be the “insurance policy” needed to achieve the bonds required in these situations. Today, we will discuss common powder coating defects and how to troubleshoot them to ensure a flawless finish. Common Defects and Solutions Orange Peel: This defect appears as a textured surface resembling the skin of an orange. It is often caused by incorrect gun settings, low film thickness, or improper curing. To fix it, adjust the gun settings, ensure proper film thickness, and verify curing temperature and time. Pinholes: Small holes in the coating film caused by trapped air or contaminants. To prevent pinholes, ensure thorough surface preparation, avoid excessive powder build-up, and maintain proper curing conditions. Fish Eyes: Small, circular craters in the coating film caused by contamination from oils or silicones. To eliminate fish eyes, thoroughly clean and degrease the parts before coating, and ensure the coating environment is free of contaminants. Blistering: Raised bubbles in the coating film caused by trapped moisture or outgassing. To prevent blistering, ensure parts are completely dry before coating, and preheat parts if necessary to release trapped gases. Offering a high level of precision and consistency, ROSS V Cone Blenders utilize diffusion as the main mechanism for mixing. As the V shaped vessel rotates on its horizontal axis, batch materials cascade down, distributing particles over a freshly exposed surface. With operating speeds of 5 to 25 revolutions per minute, the ROSS line of tumble blenders can easily mix dry solid blends (including high density powders), low-viscosity slurries, friable materials, as well as formulations containing trace components and/or ingredients that are dissimilar in size, shape and density. The purpose-built ROSS Model VCB-20, pictured below, is fully customized with two (2) pneumatic cylinders affixed to the V cone body to disconnect and connect fiber drums for charging and discharging. The blender’s dust-tight butterfly valve is operated by optional pneumatic control. To reduce the size of agglomerates, a high-speed intensifier bar is installed along the mixer’s axis of rotation. Nozzles can also be attached to this intensifier bar for continuous liquid additions during the mixing process. Carbon steel legs provide a 40” clearance beneath the discharge valve to the floor, as well as safety guardrails that are strategically positioned at the front and rear of the mixer. The front railing consists of two sections, each equipped with safety switch interlocks. The rear railing is stationary to prevent access to the rotating area of the mixer, ensuring operational safety. The NEMA 12 Control Panel includes a 7” touchscreen for viewing and controlling the blender’s and intensifier bar’s rotational speeds. The controls package also includes a jog function, emergency stop pushbutton, motor fuse protection, rotary disconnect, as well as proximity switches to stop the blender at certain preferred positions, and relay logic control for precise operation of the drum lift mechanism. #mixers #blenders #pharma #food #chemical Source: Charles Ross & Son Company
