Check out Marcie Hogan's latest blogpost on how City of Detroit uses Mapillary and generated data.
Ever wondered where the best Mapillary coverage is? Look no further than Detroit, Michigan! The city has covered over 99.8% of all its roads with over 12.7 million images—and they're capturing all of the imagery themselves. Read our latest blog post to learn more about Detroit's impressive in-house street level imagery program: https://lnkd.in/e_DsPkJP Many thanks to Tamara Fant and Ted Schultz for sharing Detroit's story!

The dyspeptic, conservative interpretive lens really does bring certain elements of experience into focus. But it is like a pinhole camera that focuses by refracting the world through a narrow aperture. Outside one’s tunnel vision, and outside the metropolitan centers where the Matrix of discourse and counter-discourse is most strong, the Golden State teems with rude life. https://lnkd.in/e4D6EGU3

A somewhat horrifying article about bird-strike on stationary windows. The article includes a list of actions we can all make to reduce bird collisions but it does not suggest how to stop peoples love of large areas of bird killing glass. Worth a read. https://lnkd.in/gPXvQkvG

Exactly, this is precisely the process I undertake to achieve outstanding terrain visualization in the majority of map layouts which encompassing imagery and areas of interest (AOI) with diverse topography. It's important to note that some team members have questioned the necessity of duplicating multiple layers of terrain, applying various blending options and effects, and grouping them together. This can sometimes result in longer duration while export map for layouts intended for printing or publication. However, there's a rationale behind this approach! I strongly suggest watching this video to grasp how your layout, integrating both imagery and terrain, could visually benefit from these techniques. Once you see the results, you’ll likely never revert to using default imagery paired with terrain. Here's a recent map where I employed the same technique to visualize terrain. https://lnkd.in/dZVSWpFH #cartography #cartographyvibes
Here's how to absolutely go bananas with your terrain hillshading. By using a handful of blurred versions of your elevation data, you get a better sense of structure, and a nice ambient illumination effect.

📸 Choosing the Right Trail Camera: Red Glow, White Flash, or No Glow? 📸 🔴 Red Glow Trail Cameras: Emit a faint red light and capture black-and-white images at night, making them great for game monitoring with minimal visibility. 💡 White Flash Trail Cameras: Capture full-color images at night, ideal for detail-oriented tasks but may alert animals with visible flash. 🌑 No Glow Trail Cameras: Completely invisible at night, perfect for discreet wildlife or security monitoring with black-and-white images, though nighttime detail may be slightly less than Red Glow cameras. Each trail camera type serves specific needs—choose the best fit for your monitoring goals! #TrailCameras #WildlifeMonitoring #OutdoorSolutions
