3-Weeks Series on Emerging Technology Trends in Contemporary Art 🌟 Introduction Through attending exhibitions, art fairs, and shows over the last couple of months, I’ve been intrigued by how our surroundings and the use of technology alter our art experience. A recent visit to the exhibition “When We See Us” at Kunstmuseum Basel marked a starting point for me to delve into the theme of art and technology. This moment inspired me to conduct further research and share my findings with my LinkedIn network. I see three major trends worth observing closely. Each trend has significant implications for future audience immersion in contemporary art. Three Major Technology Trends in Showcasing Contemporary Art 1. Mixed Reality Experiences: The rise of mixed-reality technologies, such as the Apple Vision Pro, enhances how audiences engage with art, allowing virtual gallery visits and interactive exhibitions from anywhere in the world. 🌐 Potential influences on future art immersion: • Enhanced Engagement • Global Accessibility • Personalized Experiences 2. AI and Art Authentication: AI is increasingly used for art authentication, analyzing unique characteristics of artworks to combat forgery and enhance trust in the art market. 🖼️ Impacts on audience perception and engagement: • Increased Trust • Educational Insights • Enhanced Conservation 3. Digital and Online Platforms: The expansion of online galleries and virtual auctions democratizes access to art, enabling broader participation and making art more accessible to diverse audiences. 💻 Influences on audience immersion: • Broader Participation • Interactive Features • Community Building Call to Action 📣 To my network: What major technology trends in showcasing contemporary art do you see? I’d love to hear your thoughts and insights in the comments below. 🎨🔍 #EmergingTech, #ContemporaryArt, #ArtAndTechnology #ExcelsoContemporary Caption for the Artwork Photo Marc Padeu, “All the Light on Me” (2021) Acrylic on canvas, 200 x 338 cm (78 3/4 x 133 1/8 in) Currently exhibited at Kunstmuseum Gegenwart in Basel in “When We See Us” exhibition. ONLINE COURSE: Socially Engaged Art: Curating for Empowerment and Disruption with The Creative Association of Curators TOK at Node Center for Curatorial Studies. Read the full listing on our website: https://lnkd.in/eTY69Fre 💰 Fee: 189€ 🗓 Course dates: Oct 15 - Nov 12, 2024 📧 Enrol before: 11 Oct 2024 The course will first explore how to develop infrastructures of solidarity and change by discussing principles and strategies of artistic self-organisation, including horizontality, exchange and knowledge-building. The course will then focus on how artistic projects can build relations with different communities by integrating principles of social research into curatorial work. Case studies drawn from the arts, education and activist initiatives will show ways to reveal mechanisms of social and political injustice, such as geopolitical divisions or human and non-human rights violations. Finally, collective artistic projects will be considered as forces for empowerment and disruption, especially across fields of media, youth education, public space and national borders. This course is led by the Creative Association of Curators TOK, an international curatorial duo founded by Anna Bitkina and Maria Veits in 2010. TOK work at the intersection of contemporary art, the social sciences, architecture and socially-oriented design. They will draw on their extensive experiences and unique methods of socially-engaged practice to provide a practical and theoretical framework for those who want to implement political change through their artistic projects.

We present to you the topics of this year's lecturers😊 Klara Rusan The life of a product after the death of collaboration From the first conversation about collaboration to the final product, a sinusoid of communication takes place that spins in all directions. Priorities are overturned on the scale of importance (apart from finances, where it is always most important to pay as little as possible haha) and time usually leaks or is not there from the very beginning. What often falls to the lower end of that scale is the question of what about the product that lingers for a long time after all that panic and quick execution. It’s not a big deal when the book covers are in question. They "walk" around the window for a week and get ready to go back on the shelves. But the murals remain as long as there is a wall or a vandal. And don’t even get me started about architecture...which I won't talk about because I don't know much about it, but I want to talk about many other things. What about the life of the product after the death of the collaboration? 📆 Mark your calendars - the second round of Early Bird tickets, as well as Student tickets, are on sale!! Available through the Entrio website (https://lnkd.in/dvHKmYAk)! Tickets will be sold exclusively online. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 📄 As part of our recently concluded, pioneering Collaborative Infrastructure for Sustainable Access to Digital Art project, we’ve conducted several case studies, exploring three main themes: 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀, 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, and 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲. In this update, we highlight, 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – an essential step in preserving digital artworks. Documentation is crucial because it ensures that process-driven, ephemeral, and digital artworks, which often lack a tangible or permanent form, remain accessible, interpretable, and relevant over time. It enables the preservation of the artwork's context, audience interactions, and evolution, which are essential for its future reactivation, reinterpretation, and cultural impact. Without effective documentation strategies, there is a risk that these artworks, along with their significance and reception, will be lost to history, threatening their long-term contribution to social and artistic discourse. Featuring case studies of artworks like 𝘵𝘩𝘦_𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 (1997-1998) by Debra Solomon, 𝘉𝘓𝘒𝘕𝘞𝘚 (2018) by Kahlil Joseph, and 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘱𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘍𝘶𝘳𝘺 (2021) by Saeeda Saeed, we’ve developed strategies for understanding and managing media art that is dynamic, participatory, or dependent on the proprietary technology. This was done in collaboration with Bonnefanten and the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands. 👉 To explore our findings on documentation and explore how we’re shaping sustainable preservation practices, click this link: https://lnkd.in/eG4ebN9h 📹 Saeeda Saeed, 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘱𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘍𝘶𝘳𝘺, 2021, commissioned by the Hartwig Art Foundation This project is made possible by the generous support of the Mondriaan Fund, het Cultuurfonds, and the Gieskes-Strijbis Fonds. #LIMALivingMediaArt #livingmediaart #art #contemporaryart #modernart #digitalart #videoart #artandtechnology #culture #digitalculture #culturalheritage #digitalpreservation #collaborativeinfrastructure #documentation #bonnefanten #rce #hartwig #debrasolomon #kahliljoseph #saeedasaeed #supportlima The future of LI-MA - Living Media Art is in danger: the centre of expertise for media art needs structural support. 🚀 ᗪOᑎ'T ᒍᑌᔕT ᗪO ᗯᕼᗩT YOᑌ KᑎOᗯ; ᗪO ᗯᕼᗩT YOᑌ ᗯᗩᑎT TO ᗪO! 🚀 More than two decades ago, as an architecture student in Rome, Italy, I embraced an entrepreneurial spirit. Collaborating with artists, movie directors, musicians, and fellow architects, I dipped my toes into various aspects of design and computer work—renderings, animations, graphic design—anything to fuel my creativity and make a living at 20. During my college years, a unique opportunity unfolded. A professor invited me to join her team for a Science Museum feasibility study funded by Italy's biggest Telecom company. One day we went together to hear a lecture in the Aula Magna of our beautiful college. Picture this: Zaha Hadid, the visionary designer, giving a lecture in my university in Rome, showcasing mind-blowing animations straight out of a Hollywood production. After the lecture, my professor, eyes filled with wonder, turned to me and asked, "Can we do something like this?" Without hesitation, I replied, "Of course!" Truth be told, I had no clue how to achieve it, but I was determined to make it happen beautifully. With a negotiated fee based on confidence and that simple "Of course" after Zaha Hadid's lecture, I assembled a team of friends. After weeks of sleepless nights, we delivered a stunning animated story. Over the past two decades, I've learned to be a bit more cautious, but the spirit remains unchanged—aim high and do what you want to do! 🌟 Got a similar story? Share it with us! #EntrepreneurialSpirit #PassionDriven #DesignDreams #ZahaHadidInspiration --- Enjoy this? ♻️ Share the post with others and follow me for more. 🔔

We invite you to 'In Flux’, the Service Design MA Exhibition from the Royal College of Art. This year's theme captures the dynamic nature of our world, and the service design discipline's role in navigating it. We are in flux, constantly adapting to evolving technologies, socio-cultural contexts, and environmental realities. This exhibition showcases the work-in-progress of our graduating students’ final projects. The exhibition is structured around a series of questions that act as thematic axes. These questions delve into the ways service design is in flux, and the role designers play in this changing world. Through their projects, our students explore topics such as the impact of AI on design practice, the ethical considerations of designing for behaviour change, designing for, with, and within diverse cultures, and the very essence of service design itself. In Flux is our invitation to join us in exploring the critical questions shaping the future of service design while reexamining its foundations. Join the conversation, interrogate, and co-create the future of service design in a world of constant change.

As an art curator, my passion lies in creating experiences that captivate and inspire. In today’s digital age, I've embraced the challenge of curating virtual exhibitions that not only showcase incredible art but also offer an immersive experience for audiences around the world. Recently, I had the opportunity to design a virtual exhibition that brings art to life in a way that transcends the physical gallery space. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, I've been able to craft an interactive environment where visitors can explore, engage, and connect with art from the comfort of their own homes. But what truly sets this experience apart is the integration of live events—from curator and artist Q&As to community talks—that align seamlessly with the exhibition. These events are more than just add-ons; they are foundations for deeper engagement, sparking conversations that break down barriers between the artist, the art, and the audience. These events not only enhance the virtual exhibition but also enable a sense of community, encouraging dialogue that extends beyond the digital walls. What excites me most about virtual exhibitions is their potential to reach a global audience. No longer bound by geography, we can now share the beauty of art with anyone, anywhere. Each exhibition I curate is thoughtfully designed to ensure that the online experience is as impactful and memorable as a visit to a physical gallery. The feedback from this recent project has been overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees remarking on how the virtual format allowed them to engage with the artwork in new and unexpected ways. It's clear that the future of art curation is not just in the gallery walls but in the limitless possibilities of the digital realm. If you're curious about how virtual exhibitions can elevate your art experience or if you’re interested in collaborating on future projects, I’d love to connect and discuss further! Have you ever visited a virtual exhibition before, or had your work displayed?. If so, let me know in the comments below!
