Do you ever have a really big reaction where you go from 0 to 100 in seconds when you’re having a disagreement? If so, consider that your hurt, anger, and disappointment from the past might be creeping up on you in that moment. We LOVE having couples on #DearTherapists podcast, and in this episode, Grace and Finn are models for ALL of us of what lovingly working through sticking points in a relationship looks like. 🥰 They're so tender with each other while also owning their own feelings & sharing them with honesty—even if it might be difficult for the other person to hear. They also take great care with the other person's heart + are willing to be vulnerable and self-reflect even when their instinct is to put up a wall. Don't miss this master class on how to treat your partner with love while working through areas of difficulty. If you listen to *anything* this week, listen to these two beautiful humans! ➡️ bit.ly/3U0rJmB As always, WE NEED A FAVOR! How do we find connection when the world is so scary? There are so many situations where we can be unsure of who is safe to trust. Social media is full of confusion. How do we wade through misinformation to find trustworthy information and people? We work with our nervous systems to find safety within, and connect with others whose nervous systems feel safe, too. My most recent podcast guests, Sue Marriott and Dr. Ann Kelley, are hosts of the popular podcast @TherapistUncensored , where they teach about attachment. These two amazing women, whom I’ve known almost 10 years and got to spend a little time with recently at @psychotherapynetworker , co-authored a new book which will be released this month! It’s called “Secure Relating,” and it is about how we can find safety within ourselves, even if our early attachment experiences left something to be desired. In this clip from Episode 426, Sue speaks about how we can find safety within and with others to spread secure relating, rather than fear and hate. Their book explains their modern re-conceptualization of attachment beyond the heteronormative perspective that is most commonly known in our culture. Go to the link in the clip (below in comments) to see the full conversation on YouTube or listen wherever you get your podcasts! #mentalhealth #trauma #attachment #relationships #therapychatpod #podcast

How do you determine what's important? 🤔 What deserves a "Yes" in your life and what deserves a "No, thank you"? That ^^ is a critical skill to develop if you want to improve your fibromyalgia symptoms. We can do ANYTHING, but we can't do EVERYTHING, which makes those choices so important. I was recently asked how I make these decisions by Cassie Parks as she interviewed me for her Build Grow Profit podcast. Here's what I told her: First, you have to know where you want to go. I have a vision for what I hope to accomplish in the world, what I want my life to look like, and how I hope to be able to help people. When I am given an opportunity, this is how I measure it. I look at it and I say, "Is this going to move me even just one tiny step closer to those things? Can I see that it's on the same path?" Either that or is it going to be fun?😂 As a Playmaker, fun is super important to me! 🤩 (This is my Fibromyalgia Wellness Style℠. You can find yours at FibroQuiz.com.) To learn more about how I make these decisions, check out my full conversation with Cassie in this special bonus episode of the @fibromyalgiapodcast. Sometimes we are the problem and don't realize it. What a powerful sentence, in the context of this podcast episode we are referring to people with dementia and behaviors being forms of communication. I love how Tara Jenkins, MT-BC, CDP, CMDCP explains how we try to make people fit in a box based on expectations we have rather than us adjusting our expectations. That is a radical thought that can apply to so many types of relationships in life. When we have associates, families, residents or anyone resorting to "behaviors" to communicate with us we need to stop and assess the situation. It is a step of courage, faith and vulnerability to take a step back and meet someone where they are at, rather than force them to come to you. Keeping the expectations and high standards for ourselves and meeting where they are without judgement is how we can love, coach and connect with people. All people. Tara Jenkins, MT-BC, CDP, CMDCP is full of very wise insights and experiences we can all learn from, and you can click this link to listen to our episode on the Aspire for More with Erin Podcast: https://lnkd.in/gj7YDV-7 #seniorliving #podcast #musictherapy #memorycare #assistedliving

Happy Sunday! Come check out my conversation with Abby on her podcast, How To Survive Society. Abby and I have a great conversation during the early part of me sharing this journey about my decisions to make changes and how it translated into writing my book. Although I felt like I wasn't coming from a place of addiction, it is amazing to look back and think about how quickly we find ourselves in these situations. What might have happened if I didn't take a proactive approach to my health and wellness? What could have happened? Where would I be? Soon after I started on this journey I would learn so much about myself and my situation that I wasn't aware of before. Things I didn't see. That is how it gets us. It is important to keep yourself in check and to be aware of your surroundings. You may not see it either. Check it out!! Links shared in the comments. #SundayPodcast6 🎙️ I promised myself I’d share a podcast every Sunday—highlighting inspiring people whose words and messages shape my thoughts and influence how I live and act in this world. 🌍 For the past 3 months, I’ve been hooked on Ruben Ngossa’s story on Steven Bartlett The Diary Of A CEO podcast. 🎧 I don’t want to exaggerate, but his story resonates with me on so many levels, even though we come from different backgrounds and environments. 🌱 I deeply feel his struggles, even though his challenges are 10 times heavier than mine. This is one of Steven's longest podcasts (over 2 hours!), and he even calls it "the most incredible story he’s ever heard." 🤯 Yet, I’m still stuck on the first hour because there's so much to absorb. 🧠 There are so many modern heroes—like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Michael Jordan—but what Ruben went through is on another level. 💪 Just when he reached the top of the mountain, life hit him with the hardest blow: losing his son, about 1 years old. 💔 What a heartbreaking struggle. I highly recommend dedicating 2 hours to listen to this life-changing story. ⏳ It’s heartbreaking, inspiring, and gives me the strength to wake up, do my job, and support the people around me. 🙏 We all face challenges, but stories like this really put things in perspective. 💡 #humanity #stevenbartlett #diaryofaceo https://lnkd.in/epjxwZrS
