I am trying to avoid this being one of those “look how good the culture is at my company” posts but I wanted to share some things that are working at NGIS, because it is a Friday afternoon, I have been watching Ted Lasso recently and so I wanted to share. As we have doubled our workforce and tripled our offices over the past 4 years we have been working hard to maintain our culture – which for anybody that has been in a business during a growth period would know, is not an easy task. I am not saying that we have everything locked down perfectly from a culture point of view but below are a few of the things that I think are working: 👍 Reward the way you want people to behave. We no longer have any individual bonuses. We focus completely on a team reward where every single person in our business gets the same reward, and where the reward is based on the performance of our entire team. This year we had a whole of company trip to Bali where we got to celebrate and connect as a team, and where some of our staff decided to stay in Indonesia for the next month to enjoy the surf! 👍 Create opportunities for passionate people. Year on year we gravitate more to the projects and companies that really attach to what our team is most passionate about – getting to use Geospatial data and technology to deliver impact, whether that be tangible impact for the operations of large enterprises, or using our skills to address significant global challenges such as climate change. 👍 Engineer the work life balance. Last year we implemented a 9 day fortnight to provide some relief for our super hard working people where the blend of work day to home life can become fuzzy when working from home. Providing every second Friday off as well as instigating meeting free Fridays seems to be working for our staff and their families. And my final thought for the day – it just doesn’t work without the right people. So to the amazing crew at NGIS a big thankyou! Good people doing good work equals good business.

Team bonding beyond Zoom? Don't knock it till you try it! Being an ambivert, I used to think after-work socializing with colleagues was a waste because we spent 8-9 hours together daily, which felt like enough bonding time. Even when I attended these events, I went for the free food and drinks (No offence to any HR folks here! 😄) But then... Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia happened! 🇲🇾 Stepping off that plane, I was more nervous than on board exam day 😅 . Meeting my new team for the first time, in a new country… oh boy! Can I be myself? How do I connect when I'm the "different" one? Will they even like me? But guess what? My amazing team planned awesome gatherings- from kayaking to lunch outings and visiting local sites. Hanging out outside work helped me relax, see them as real people (not just Zoom squares! 😉 ), and feel comfortable sharing my thoughts. I made many wonderful relationships that go beyond work ❤️ . Team bonding outside the office? Absolutely! Count me in! Because it doesn't matter where we come from, our backgrounds, or how different our cultures are. At the end of the day, we're all humans, sharing a journey, and creating experiences together. #teambuilding #globalworkforce #culturematters #newperspectives #makeconnections

🌍✨ Today, as we commemorate 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 for Dialogue and Development, let's take a moment to appreciate the vibrant tapestry of cultures that enriches our workplace! 🌟 At Access Indonesia, we are privileged to experience a kaleidoscope of cultures, traditions, and beliefs, each weaving its unique thread into the fabric of our collective identity. This year, our offices in Indonesia and Singapore celebrate this diversity by highlighting the rich variety of ethnicities represented among our colleagues. Each culture brings its own unique traditions, languages, and habits, creating a workplace where diversity and innovation thrives. 🏢🌏 We do more than celebrate our differences; we celebrate unity in diversity. Research from Harvard Business Review provides compelling evidence that diversity unlocks innovation and drives market growth. Companies that embrace cultural diversity and inclusiveness are more innovative and better positioned for market success. It is through the intersection of varied backgrounds and cultures that we find creativity, fuel innovation, and build the foundation for lasting change. 🚀💡 As we stand on the threshold of a new era, let us reaffirm our commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion, respect, and understanding. Let us pledge to champion diversity not just in our workplace but in every corner of our lives. For it is in embracing the full spectrum of human diversity that we unlock the boundless potential of our collective humanity. 🤝🌈 On this 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, we honor our cultural heritage that brings us together, enriches us as a group, and symbolizes the tolerance and acceptance that define us as a community. 🎶🕌 #WorldCulturalDiversityDay #AccessIndonesia #DiversityandInclusion

- Reflecting on My Time Working in Singapore - I just started a new consulting project in Singapore, and I’m already experiencing the dynamic and challenging work environment that this vibrant city has to offer. The city’s pace is exhilarating, but it comes with its unique set of challenges, especially in achieving work-life balance. Here are some key learnings for anyone embarking on a similar journey: 1. Embrace the Culture: Singapore is a melting pot of cultures, and understanding local customs and business etiquette is crucial. Take the time to learn and appreciate the diverse perspectives within your team and clients. 2. Effective Team Mobilization: As a project lead, it's vital to foster a sense of unity and purpose within your team. Regular check-ins, clear communication, and setting realistic expectations can go a long way. Encourage open dialogue and make sure everyone feels heard and valued. 3. Transitioning Ways of Working: Adapting to the local work style is essential. In Singapore, efficiency and precision are highly valued. Implement structured workflows and leverage technology to streamline processes. Be flexible and open to new methods, and lead by example to instill these practices in your team. 4. Prioritize Personal Health and Sleep: The demanding work culture can take a toll on your health. Make it a point to set boundaries and stick to them. Schedule downtime, engage in regular physical activity, and ensure you get adequate sleep. Remember, a well-rested mind is more productive and creative. 5. Balance is Key: Finding the right balance between work and personal life is an ongoing process. Don’t be afraid to delegate and trust your team. Encourage them to also maintain a healthy balance. A happy team is a productive team. Working in Singapore has been an eye-opening experience, filled with professional growth and personal insights. It has reinforced the importance of balance and the power of a cohesive, well-supported team. For those heading to a client site on a consulting project, I hope these insights help you navigate the exciting journey ahead. Here's to embracing new challenges, learning continuously, and thriving together! #WorkLifeBalance #ConsultingLife #Singapore #TeamLeadership #ProfessionalGrowth #HealthAndWellness #CulturalDiversity

From Lion City newbie to laksa-loving (almost) local, my first year in Singapore has been filled with unforgettable moments. 🇸🇬🍜 Here‘s what I have learned so far: - Embracing adaptability, or what I call ‚Jacket Management‘, is crucial much like navigating the ever-changing corporate world. #aircon - Maintaining work-life balance - especially when savouring local hawker centre delicacies. As in business, discipline and strategic planning (making time for sport) pave the road to success. - Learning to respect boundaries (even with monkeys!) reminds me of the importance of respecting cultural differences and understanding unique perspectives in the workplace. - Building a reliable network, just like the Grab app, can be a lifesaver when you are navigating the challenges of corporate life and a new city. - Prioritizing self-care, like protecting oneself from the sun and staying well-hydrated (!), parallels talking care of our well-being in the fast-paced world. In a nutshell Singapore has taught me many lessons, has kept me laughing, sweating and freezing. Thanks to the ContiTech Singapore Team for the fun lunch breaks and for always keeping me on my toes to understand Singlish ☺️

Building Bonds Beyond the Office Walls 🌟 We organised a special team-building event for the Singapore contracting sales team and assignment support team. We took to the vibrant streets of Chinatown, Singapore, forming different teams to complete a series of engaging tasks. The objective was clear: foster an environment where every team member could showcase and leverage their unique strengths. It wasn't just about ticking off tasks; it was about connecting on a personal level. Through this activity, we aimed to see each other beyond our professional roles and truly get to know the person behind the desk. The experience was enriching. We discovered personal anecdotes and histories that have shaped our colleagues. These shared moments and insights have not only deepened our understanding of one another but also strengthened our bond, making our teamwork more cohesive and resilient. 🎉 #TeamBuilding #OfficeCulture #NESFircroft

What do we mean with a Swe-Lankan 🇸🇪🇱🇰 working culture? In Ascentic, with our team and the heart of our operations in Sri Lanka and most of our customers in Sweden, we have from the start been fostering what we call a Swe-Lankan working culture. So what does that mean? In short: ✅ Flat hierarchy, where all team members are expected to question and bring their own perspectives to the table (yes also when it comes to disagreeing with the boss or a customer in order to derive the best possible approach forward) ✅ An emphasis on work-life balance, where high expectations on speed and quality is coupled with supportive leadership to maintain sustainable working hours and healthy stress levels ✅ A supportive work environment, with emphasis on teamwork and failure as a part as the process as we innovate and constantly try to push borders on what we accomplish Yes, when you work with team members from different parts of the world there will be cultural differences to consider, which is why it's important to define and communicate the culture you want to have in your team. When bringing in external team members - make sure their company values are aligned with your own to decrease the risk of mismatches, and then remember to communicate the expectations you have on your team. When done right, your team will be stronger from the range of perspectives the diversity brings. #offshoredevelopment #softwareengineering #srilanka #innovation

Tec D Malaysia's Team Building Event in Melaka! It’s never too late to share great experiences! We recently had a fantastic team-building event for our Shared Services Office in Malaysia, held in the beautiful city of Melaka. The 2-day, 1-night event was a wonderful opportunity for us to connect and bond. One highlight was Coach Heidy’s "Maze Game," where we had to navigate from one end of the maze to the other using only team instructions and non-verbal cues like "Meow" and "TecD." If we took a wrong step, we had to return to the start and correct our direction. This game really underscored the importance of communication. Despite the challenge of using unconventional signals, we managed to complete the maze, demonstrating that effective communication is key to productivity and team success. Key Takeaways from the Maze Game: 🗝 Communication: Using only "Meow" and "TecD" to navigate showed that clear communication is essential. Despite the challenge of using unconventional signals, we managed to complete the maze, demonstrating that effective communication is key to productivity and team success. 🗝 Collaboration: Although the game felt competitive, we realized that helping each other could have led to quicker success. Working together and supporting one another can achieve common goals more efficiently. 🗝 Trust and Advice: Team members initially overlooked advice from those who had completed the maze. This highlighted the importance of trusting and seeking guidance from experienced colleagues, which can be valuable for project success. Additionally, running 🏃♀️around Jonker Street was a fun way to burn some calories. Overall, it was a fantastic team-building experience, and I’m looking forward to more events like this in the future!
