Introducing Open World Compass mobile concept Navigating new environments can be overwhelming, even with digital maps at our fingertips. Approximately 3% of the population with healthy cognitive functions, still struggle with topographical disorientation — finding it hard to translate a digital map into real-world navigation. How can this be resolved? Let's take a cue from the immersive world of gaming. In popular "open world" games, a simple yet effective compass bar helps players orient themselves without constantly referring to a map. Inspired by this, I've developed the Open World Compass, a widget designed to integrate seamlessly with digital map interfaces, enhancing the user experience with intuitive navigation tools. 🔄 Modes for Every Need: 1. Classic: Familiar yet sophisticated compass, reacting to directions and tilts. 2. Map: Enhances traditional map reading with dynamic interactions. 3. Augmented Reality (AR): Merges real-world views with navigational interface for an immersive experience. 4. Lock Screen: Access essential navigation on your locked phone screen. 🔍 User-Centric Features: - Waypoint Management: Customize your journey by organizing or adding new waypoints, which only disappear once visited. - Adaptive Navigation: Optional hints and navigation modes cater to personal preference, ensuring a tailored navigation experience. The main points in Game UI design is the UI in itself which ties the entire experience from title screen to playing and including all other parts of the game. 1. The Seed is one inspiration that will grow into every aspect of the game story and playing experience. You’ll know you have found it when you find it. The seed will speak to you and your team. 2. Everything physical meaning it’s an engaging experience that draws the player into the gaming world and a good UI would actually seem to come alive and even create a lasting branding for the fans. 3. Have fun designing the UI as in go crazy with your imagination until you find what works. 4. Design for the now and worry about the future when it comes. 5. Invest in making libraries of assets, stuff, junk, things that didn’t make the cut just invest in a library of things so that you can retrieve and rework something if needed. It’s a time consuming but far better than to start from scratch every single time.
