The #1 Question I Get as a Business Analyst: How do I create systems that solve the right problems for the right people? Here’s my answer: Think of Your Solution as a Filter, Not Just a Framework. As Business Analysts, we often focus on gathering requirements, designing workflows, and improving processes—but the real magic happens when our solutions attract the right stakeholders and drive alignment, while simultaneously deterring misalignment. Here’s how I approach it: ✅ Ask Bold Questions Early: Don’t just ask “What do you need?” Dig deeper to uncover pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities. Be prepared to challenge assumptions. For example: Instead of “What’s your desired outcome?” try: “What would happen if we solved the wrong problem here?” This helps identify stakeholders who are ready to make transformative changes—not just cosmetic fixes. ✅ Set Expectations from Day One: Start every initiative with a clear scope, roles, and measurable outcomes. Use tools like stakeholder assessments, user stories, or RACI matrices to ensure everyone’s aligned and accountable. ✅ Prototype Solutions Before Commitment: Before investing too much time or money, test a pilot or minimum viable product (MVP). This lets you validate the solution with the right stakeholders and make adjustments quickly. Why This Works: Being clear about who your solution serves—and who it doesn’t—is a game-changer in our role. It creates buy-in from the right people while reducing noise and resistance from the wrong ones. Did this resonate with you? Would you say your projects this year delivered value that you’re proud of? Let’s chat in the comments I’d love to hear about your approach to building systems that drive meaningful change! #BusinessAnalysis #SystemsThinking #StakeholderEngagement #ProcessImprovement
