On Friday, December 20, 2024, PT Santi Energi Hijau signed a partnership agreement with BRIN - Pusat Riset Teknologi Industri Proses & Manufaktur (BRIN - PRTIPM), PT Summit Niaga (100% subsidiary of Sumitomo Corp.) and BINEX. This project agreement aims to raise sorghum productivity and quality, develop a sustainable sorghum value chain, and make sorghum one of Indonesia’s main sources of bioenergy. One1 Ltd and Kaustisen Turkisrehu Ltd have signed a letter of intent to build Finlands' largest biogas production facility to the estate of Kaustisen Turkisrehu. The size of the investment is approximately EUR 50 million. In the first phase, the biogas plant mainly processes the same mass flows that are used in the production of fodder for fur animals. In the second phase, the facility offers the possibility of cooperation to all agricultural entrepreneurs in the area for the processing of manure and field biomass in a way that brings added value to them. Syarif Riyadi, Founder & CTO of Energy Academy Indonesia (ECADIN), recently outlined the opportunities and challenges facing Indonesia's battery sector at the International Symposium on Critical Metals for Battery Production from Primary and Alternative Resources. The symposium was held on July 15-16, 2024, at the Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. He highlighted that embracing new battery technologies and securing battery recycling processes through clear regulations and collaborative technological approaches is indeed a powerful strategy for Indonesia to foster a cleaner and greener future. By 2030, Indonesia could see around 1.096 GWh of used EV batteries, consisting of 329 MWh of NMC-based batteries and 767 MWh of LFP-based batteries. The future of mobility in Indonesia, and its commitment to sustainable energy, hinges on the success of its battery revolution.
