Democracy! The significance of democratic governance in fostering a society that upholds freedom, equality, and justice cannot be overstated. Democracy provides a platform for the people's voices to be heard through the election of representatives who are accountable to their constituents. This system ensures that decisions are made with the consent of the governed, thereby enhancing the legitimacy and trust in governmental institutions. Democratic governance encourages open dialogue, debate, and compromise among diverse groups, resulting in policies that reflect the interests and values of all segments of society. By protecting fundamental rights such as freedom of speech, assembly, and the press, democracy empowers individuals to engage in civic life and hold their leaders accountable. In essence, democratic rule acts as a safeguard against tyranny, corruption, and abuse of power while promoting an inclusive and responsive government that prioritizes the common good. As we mark 25 years of uninterrupted democratic rule in Nigeria, the nation continues to strive towards fully embodying the principles of democracy as seen in other developed countries. May the efforts of our past heroes continue to inspire and drive us towards achieving true democratic ideals. Happy Democracy Day Nigeria! #democracy #june12 #nigeria

As Nigeria commemorates 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, it is crucial to reflect on the blessings, the woes, and the hope that have characterised the journey of the Fourth Republic, which commenced on May 29, 1999. #democracyinnigeria #nigeriademocracy #FourthRepublic #PoliticalStability #economicgrowth https://lnkd.in/etR7NAUJ

Nigeria’s 25 Years of Democracy: A Flawed Celebration Absurd. Disarray. Malfeasance. Insecure. Penury. All five words are basic descriptions of Nigeria. On May 29 1999, the country transitioned to democratic governance. After over three decades of hiatus of military dictatorship that denoted suppression of political activists, restricted freedom of speech and press, neglecting democratic values, international sanctions, economic ineffectiveness and callous corruption. On the inception of Non-military government, the nation borrowed the United States style of governance to accentuate; federalism, democracy, separation of powers, rule of law individual rights and inclusiveness of each ethnic group across the plural territory. https://lnkd.in/egeFJ8du

MKP (Must Keep Plundering) policies, Zimbabwe on Steroids if this unit gets into power. Our people's lives will be plunged into absolute misery, SA will become one of the poorest and darkest countries in Africa if you read their carbon copy Marxist manifest and policies. They are typical of other failed Marxist outcomes that have been implemented by dictatorial leaders in other 3rd world economies. Behold the MKP elite and their cronies, will feast like no other feast ever seen whilst its Nation will starve. The litany of leaders in this party are all stained with some form of gross corruption, looting and misappropriation charges and allegations. How can anything good come from this party, we have seen the worst form of financial genocide committed against a Nation over the past 30 years by the current regime, don't let it happen again Mzansi. #voteforchange and I mean #VOTEFORCHANGE only you can do this, please spare our people and prevent the unfolding of this looming catastrophe. "Masingavumeli ububi bexesha elidluleyo bugqibe ngekamva lethu."
LETTER: MKP’s policies spell dystopia

Happy Democracy Day, Nigerians. Abraham Lincoln defined Democracy as government "of the people, by the people, for the people". Can we proudly say we are democratic in this country? Democracy comes from the Greek words "demos", meaning people, and "kratos" meaning power; so put together, democracy can be thought of as "power of the people": a way of governing which depends on the will of the people. As people of Nigeria, does the style of governance align with our will? Though we know of a fact that in every society people have divergent wills but the will of the majority usually supercede that of the minority. There are various aspects to democracy, but when these six main features are present it indicates a strong democracy. They are: 1) Respect for basic human rights, 2) A multi-party political system paired with political tolerance, 3) A democratic voting system, 4) Respect for the rule of law, 5) Democratic governance, and 6) Citizen participation May God give our leaders the wisdom to lead us aright so our democracy can live long enough to fully represent what it stands for. Long live Nigeria..! #Democracy #Nigeria #Storytelling #FundamentalHumanRights

Democracy is originally Independent/Nonpartisan that's the fact and truth. Multiparty Democracy is a scam and a counterfeit tool to divide and conquer/rule the majority of citizens for few political elites in nations. The use of the word Independent does not connote to a single person, or when someone is embittered with his political, then he becomes independent. The word "independent" is used intrinsically to mean the Independent of a single political ideology. That's why a coalition of many political parties and political entities (amalgamation of political ideologies) is situated as prosecuting Independent/Nonpartisan by Ghana First Coalition-GFC The political system needs to be fixed to get the nation working. The WORKING GHANA AGENDA vision in 2011, which was cloned by NDC as "working for you" in 2012 and by NPP as "Ghana will work again" in 2017 to date are far cry of twin incompetence. We need to prosecute genuine Democracy to bring the liberty we need.

In a recent statement amidst ongoing unrest in Venezuela, opposition leader Juan Guaidó pledged to restore democracy and hold free and fair elections if elected president. 🇻🇪 He also emphasized the importance of international support for these efforts and addressed the dire need to alleviate human rights violations under the current regime. The challenges Venezuela faces are monumental, with crippling hyperinflation, food shortages, and power outages severely impacting everyday life for citizens. Guaidó's promise to release political prisoners and protect human rights marks a beacon of hope for many. However, his commitments have been met with skepticism. Can Guaidó truly unite a fractured nation and bring about the change he promises? 🤔 This situation begs the question: What role should the international community play in supporting a peaceful transition to democracy? Is external pressure on the Maduro regime the right strategy, or are there other, more effective means to support the Venezuelan people in their quest for freedom and stability? 🔄 Share your thoughts and insights on this critical issue. #Venezuela #Democracy #HumanRights #InternationalRelations #JuanGuaido #PoliticalChange

The current president of Nigeria never appeared for one debate to address issues. Never again should we Nigerian ever elect a president who will not show up on debate or community talks to address issues and tell the people what he would do about it. American elections are based on issues. Kamala addressed abortion, Trump addressed immigration. To win elections in America you must address issues heads on. The candidate with the most appealing ideology is likely to win. How can we in Nigeria elect a president who never showed up for debate nor addressed issues and sell his ideologies to the people. Why are we surprised of his performance? On what basis was he chosen to lead the country? Simply on the basis of tribal grounds. Nigerian, next time let's do better. For the only fact that a politicians pursuing the highest office in Nigeria cannot or does not show up for debate and talks should be red flag that this candidate has no plan for the country, only self ambition. Ambition is good but must be backed up with clear vision for impact. One bitten twice shy. Nigerians never again must we elect a president or governor based on tribe, religion or ethnicity. All these zoning nonsense must stop. Our leaders must be ready to engage the people, sell their ideologies to the people and then the people decide if he or she is fit or not. This is the spirit of true democratic process. Nigeria we must do better next time.

As economic uncertainty rises alongside living costs, a call for sober consideration and strategic action emerges from Nigeria's political landscape, issued by former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. He directs his plea towards the Independent National Electoral Commission and Nigeria's Judiciary, expecting an end to post-election litigations, a near-custom in our national discourse. Could this be the watershed moment for Nigeria's political arena? The answer solely lies with these key institutions. A question is posed if it's appropriate to remodel our post-election norms. Or is maintaining these litigations crucial to regulate political power? #Nigeria #Economy #LivingCosts #Politics #GoodluckJonathan #INEC #Judiciary #PostElection #Litigations #NationalDiscours #ReachifyMe

Democracy is not just a form of government but a promise to ensure that the voices and choices of the people are heard and respected.
