RBNZ turns 180 degrees from May The RBNZ surprised us by cutting the OCR 25bps at the August Monetary Policy Statement. The surprise was compounded by a relatively dovish forward OCR forecast track that was just contained within the range of scenarios we thought likely when we issued our preview. The RBNZ now projects the OCR to fall much more quickly through 2025 and 2026 than suggested in May, and gets closer to their long-run neutral OCR level of 2.75-3.00% earlier than previously expected.

FBR Withdraws Draft Amendments to Baggage Rules, 2006 The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially withdrawn the draft amendments to the Baggage Rules, 2006, which were introduced through SRO 2028(I)/2024. These proposed changes sought to restrict travelers to carrying only one mobile phone and baggage valued at up to $1,200. However, the FBR has clarified that the $1,200 limit was intended solely for goods purchased for trade or pecuniary gain. This restriction does not apply to personal or bona fide baggage items carried by travelers. The decision to withdraw the notification was made in light of the confusion and misinterpretation it caused among the public.
