Hi, my name is Candace McDonald. I am the Special Projects Manager for BC at Ellisdon Corporation. So my favorite part about my new role as the special projects manager is basically the diversity of the position. I do everything from training new employees for should have school, making sure we're executing on the jobs, working with superintendents to, you know, plan their site and how we're going to execute the work. As well as then I have business development portion of my job before I get to go out, meet clients, go to conferences before my LS Dawn days and how I fell in love with construction was I was actually on the tools. I did a small stint working for a sheet metal company back in Halifax, NS, so I started with Ellis Don as a project coordinator in Halifax 10 years ago and from there I've worked my way all over the country working in almost every province. That's advice I've ever received during my career is get out of your comfort zone. If you're comfortable, you're not growing, you're not learning, you're not pushing yourself to the next level. And the the biggest way that we grow is doing things that we make us feel uncomfortable. And the more that we do those things, the more that we grow from them. My advice to any young woman is come into construction, there's lots of opportunity. We're just beginning to show them what we can do.
