Since 2019, DT Global's USAID-funded Papua New Guinea Lukautim Graun Program (LGP) has been a driving force in #biodiversity #conservation and community development in the Bismarck Forest Corridor. LGP stands as a leading model for sustainable development in #PNG, showcasing USAID’s commitment to protecting natural landscapes and supporting communities. Key achievements include: 🚷 Establishment of protected areas, contributing to the conservation of vital forest ecosystems and endangered species. 🌲 Reduction in deforestation through targeted interventions and sustainable land management practices. 🧑💼 Support for alternative livelihoods, which have helped reduce pressure on natural resources and improved the economic well-being of local communities. LGP integrates traditional knowledge with modern conservation, empowering local communities in environmental decisions. Partnering with community and women’s organizations, the program promotes sustainable resource management and gender equity. As LGP marks its fifth anniversary, a three-day workshop in August evaluated successes and set objectives for its two-year extension. The extension aims to sustain and build upon the program’s achievements, with a continued focus on strengthening community capacity, advancing conservation efforts, and addressing emerging issues such as climate change.🌿 For more information on USAID LGP and its ongoing efforts, visit their website: https://ow.ly/o55M30sGR7z #IWork4DTGlobal #WeAreDTGlobal #USAID #LGP #BiodiversityConservation #SustainableDevelopment #PapuaNewGuinea #EnvironmentalImpact #CommunityDevelopment

Conservation International is thrilled to be an agency for the Global Environment Facility’s Small Grants Programme (SGP 2.0). This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to bring together diverse stakeholders, from civil society to corporate partners, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities, to tackle pressing environmental challenges. Building on the legacy of the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, which has supported over 2,700 civil society organizations in conserving biodiversity hotspots, we aim to catalyze transformations, build capacities, and create resilient systems that endure beyond the life of a grant to protect our planet's most vulnerable and biodiverse regions.
