What can we learn from the Netherlands? With only 17.8 million people, they earned 15 gold medals. For the USA, with a population of 335 million, to achieve comparable success, they’d have to win 282 gold medals. From a GDP perspective, the USA should win 354 gold medals to match the Netherlands' performance. It makes me wonder if we could implement the Dutch model in our SAP projects. Accenture's Country Managing Director for #Romania, Raluca Burghelea, publicly unveils plans for the development of their centers in Romania. It is a new confirmation of what PAC has underlined in its market research and consulting projects: the demand for IT-skilled people is slowing down but continuing! Before claiming that Romania is no longer competitive, that the global demand for fresh resources is behind us, or that it's worthless to start now preparing for a future career in IT, think twice and focus energy, increase the pressure on the Romanian public authorities, on the education system (starting from highschool!). The objective should be to get the schools and universities equipped for what the new generation will need as education background, overall competencies, and the right information to be delivered to teens about their future contribution to the new economy, in line with their goals to improve their lives and living standards. As previously announced, there will be more companies that will accelerate their development in Romania, both organically and through acquisitions. With domestic demand expected to accelerate this year (driven by public sector projects, but not only!), the Romanian IT industry will continue to grow faster than the average GDP of the country, and I hope companies will continue to onboard junior, fresh graduates, and integrate them into projects, services, and R&D that need fresh ideas, an openness to transformation, and AI-native minds. The reduced appetite for juniors that I've seen in the last 12 months among IT companies (of all sizes and all origins) is a dangerous trap for the future development of the industry and its players. My 10th year at SAP came with a wind of change: I’ve joint the SAP Globalization User Assistance Development team in Germany. ✨ Time flies... Ten years ago, around this time, I began my journey with SAP as an intern in Brazil. What started as a temporary project has turned into a remarkable decade of growth and discovery. Back then, I told myself, "Let's see where this experience takes me," never imagining how transformative the path would become. Along the way, I found my way in the technical writing area and was fortunate to work with people who believed in my potential. They encouraged me to learn, innovate, and contribute to projects that are shaping an ever-evolving technological landscape. For that, I am deeply grateful. One of my development plans was to live and work abroad, and that came true when I moved to the Czech Republic in September 2020. I lived four years there, learning from new cultures, collaborating on diverse projects at SAP, and building meaningful connections with great people. Now, it's time for the next chapter! I’m excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead and eager to continue growing both personally and professionally. During the last 4 years, I’ve led special, unique, and challenging projects. Today marks the second month since we went live with SAP FIELDGLASS integrated with SAP ECC, at Colombia’s most important Oil & Gas company. I would like to express my happiness and pride in this great accomplishment, turning #ACCENTURE #COLOMBIA into a byword not only in LATAM, but also anywhere in the world for this type of implementation. This project involved the implementation of over 25 integration processes, and using our experience and know-how we took them to the edge of what wasn’t even possible while not losing sight of the limitations inherent in an integration of two systems which actually started “speaking” to each other 3 and half years ago through the use of the ASAPIO AddOn (Feature Package from October 2020), which is still evolving in maturity. So much so, that its most recent release “SP8,” came out in October 2023. In other words, functionalities are continuously being released both for the AddOn as well as for Fieldglass Stand Alone to fill in GAPs or roll out new functionalities to optimize its processes. I would like to extend my thanks to the team of functional consultants and ACCENTURE technicians that I led since January 2023 who made the journey with me and for their commitment, day in and day out, for their sleepless nights taken in stride. Thank you for opening your minds in the search for technical solutions to complex requirements. This kind of trips leave you with your own thoughts and there, thousand meters up, honesty comes first. That’s why I have no intention to write anything clichè about my time at SAP. One thing I want to mention is gratitude: for people I met, challenges I faced and things I’ve done to become the best version of myself. SAP shaped my professional profile, introduced me to many individuals, took me to many places. All this will never vanish and I’m immensely grateful for that. Climbing the mountain parallels climbing a #careerladder: both are challenging and not always enjoyable. However, the essence lies in the journey itself—taking small steps with short breaks to gather energy for the next leap. While each climber had unique motivations, we all shared one thing - the path matters more than the destination. I want to enjoy my own path, with those much-needed short breaks to take a breath and gain energy for the next big move.
