If your hiring process hasn’t evolved in the last 5-10 years, you're losing top talent. Sorry, but it's true. 🤷🏼♀️ Great candidate experience isn’t just important, it's pretty much essential. It sets the tone for the entire employment relationship and speaks to your brand. 👍🏼 A seamless candidate experience involves consistent communication, transparency, and respect for candidates' time. Look, I get it. It's good for companies to fill positions quickly, but if this is at the expense of good candidate experience it'll come back to bite you. 👎🏼An inefficient, disjointed process will alienate top talent and leave you with a negative reputation in the market, and sub-par candidate options. Work with a recruitment partner who prioritizes candidate experience. You'll attract better talent, reduce your time-to-hire, and decrease the risk of offer rejections. I hear it ALL. THE. TIME. Companies: "We don’t need to hire a recruiter" But then: 📍 Their HR team (who don’t have recruiting in their background) are overworked and tired 📍 Their Hiring managers are not clear on what they want 📍 Their jobs keep getting reposted because "they aren't finding the right fit" 📍 Everyone is frustrated If you build a proper relationship with a recruiter in your industry, you will attract top talent that is specific to what you need, have hours of your week back instead of skimming through hundreds of resumes, and can focus on your actual job. I have spoken to many hiring managers about the difficulty they have finding good people to fill open roles. At the same time, I have heard from many job seekers about hiring processes that make it very difficult for potential employees to want to continue in the interviewing process. I am all about a detailed vetting and hiring process, but some employers simply make it so damn difficult. Prolonging the hiring process and adding assignments at the 11th hour are an indication of the work environment. Employers must understand that they are not the only ones in the vetting process. Job seekers are also vetting the organization, the hiring managers, and the culture. If you make it difficult and ask for unreasonable things, there is a reason you are struggling to find good candidates. Many job seekers have a common complaint - recruiters and talent acquisition professionals don't care about me! They believe that recruiters only care about filling a job, and this perception often prevents recruiters from attracting the best talent. Potential candidates are tired of being pitched jobs that they would never accept, and they feel that recruiters are all alike. If you want to attract the best talent, stop pitching jobs and start discussing what is most important to each candidate. Conduct a general interview and see if their answers align with your opportunity, culture, and objectives. In any relationship, people want to know that you care about them, that they can trust you, and that you will keep your promises.
