Sunday Security Solutions Sermon Combatting Fraud in the Freight Industry: Fraud prevention starts long before your freight hits the road. At FreightValidate ✅ our #DELTA —“Don’t Even Let Them Aboard”—Initiative is the first critical step in detecting and preventing fraud by ensuring that bad actors never get their hands on your freight in the first place. By thoroughly vetting carriers and brokers, we stop double brokerage, cargo theft, and other fraudulent activities at the source. However, vetting is just one part of a comprehensive fraud prevention strategy. To truly secure your shipments, you need end-to-end visibility. That's why we recommend working with advanced tracking platforms like 7PSolutions, LLC to integrate a covert tracking devices program into your security protocol. These technologies provide real-time tracking and monitoring, ensuring your freight stays on the right path and in safe hands. The goal of the #FreightValidate #Delta program is to stop #Scumbags from tendering or accepting freight—it’s about making sure they never even get the opportunity. But sometimes even good guys turn bad or bad guys steal loads from good guys. By combining robust identity and compliance verification processes with advanced tracking systems, you create a layered defense that not only deters the bad guys but also keeps your cargo secure throughout its journey. Cargo theft increased 57% between 2022 and 2023, according to CargoNet. At the same time, TransUnion reported that shipping fraud in general climbed 780% between 2021 and 2022. It is difficult to accurately quantify other types of prevalent fraud — like hacking and other cyberattacks — with existing data, but multiple companies have been temporarily shut down due to ransomware attacks in recent years. There has been an increased effort to educate transportation companies about the prevalence of fraudulent activities over the past couple years. As a result, most people are aware of the risks of common threats like double brokering and trailer theft. Other types of fraud, however, are also on the rise.
