It's been seven years since the launch of my weekly Talking Business podcast. A big thanks to the 27,000 global listeners and to all on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X who tune into it every week. It's the only journalism I do now but I have enjoyed it immensely. Looking forward to returning to it in February 2025.

Did you know that if I attract more than 30 downloads in the first week of releasing a new episode that I’ll be in the top 50% of all podcasters? Whelp! After releasing the first 3 episodes just 5 days ago… Between the podcast hosting and YouTube viewing… Earthmates had 84 downloads! The podcast is officially better than average 😁 And I’d love to hit 100 to keep the moment going… Before I add the next episode this Tuesday… And every Tuesday. Use the link in the first comment to chose from the list… Or simple type in Earthmates to track it down in your favorite location… AND DO ALL THE THINGS! (download, listen, subscribe, share, post, etc) Let’s keep Earthmates in the top! It’s all part of my goal of making Earth Archetypes as well known as Love Languages.

In Episode Three, I’m talking to Ariel Zirulnick, an audience and product consultant (and all-around awesome person!) who helps newsrooms do journalism with and for their communities and build systems to make that work sustainable. We're talking about how product thinking has a role in journalism newsrooms and how it helps you reach your readers in creative ways that generate sustaining revenue. Check it out!

One of my favorite parts of what I do is connecting ag businesses of all kinds to my podcast audience. What you see here is a portion of my weekly newsletter (a few weeks ago) which highlights the two podcast episode sponsors. Rural Way Promotions is a small business owned by a dear friend and Alltech is a much larger business. Both are serving my audience in great ways despite the differences in their size and what they offer. When I initially monetized my podcast, I didn’t realize how much fun it would be to build these relationships with business owners and representatives. Providing win-win-win scenarios for my advertisers, listeners and myself is one of the best parts of what I do. What’s something you enjoy about your job that you didn’t expect when you started?
