💡One man's trash can be another man's cause for innovation👇 ♻️Tallinn pilots waste container digitalization A pilot project within the #TestinTallinn framework was set in motion. With the expertise of ibiot, the project aimed to find out how fill level-based waste collection can reduce costs for the municipality and citizens, minimize environmental footprint, and improve governance in the sector. 📊During the project, 100 public waste containers were digitalized. A big data export function and a geo-infographic dashboard were developed. The project's municipal partner was KeKo - Tallinn Urban Environment and Public Works Department, who advised on which containers to digitalize and the most relevant areas. 📈Analysis of the collected data revealed that 85.7% of the emptied containers had a fill level below 50%, indicating that emptying could have been postponed. It is estimated that fill level-based emptying could save at least 50% of the costs and reduce the environmental footprint equivalently. 🌠#Tallinn gained significant knowledge about the potential applications of sensors in urban spaces. 👉More details about this project: https://lnkd.in/dhZqp5WY

Situated along the River Orne and connected to the English Channel by the Caen to the Sea Canal, the city benefits from an intricate network of canals, locks, and industrial ports that support maritime transport and commerce. This waterway infrastructure is central to Caen’s economy, particularly in logistics and transportation. 🚢 Innovations to be demonstrated: 🚀 Automated vessel operations ⚡ Zero-emissions propulsion systems 🌊 Modal shift from road to inland waterways for efficient freight movement Meanwhile, Le Havre is taking on an equally important role by offering an estuary environment to test the design of a coastal barge and address the regulatory differences between inland and maritime transport.
