Q: Is living on campus as a first-year college student important? A: Living on campus as a first-year student offers numerous benefits that can significantly enhance a student’s college experience. This arrangement fosters community and belonging, as students are immediately integrated into a network of peers navigating similar transitions. The proximity to classes, libraries, and campus resources reduces travel time and promotes academic engagement, while residence halls often provide structured support systems, including resident advisors and academic tutoring. Additionally, living on campus exposes students to diverse cultures, perspectives, and ideas, enriching their personal growth and broadening their worldview. This immersive environment facilitates easier adaptation to college and encourages active participation in campus events and organizations, laying the foundation for a fulfilling college journey. 😏 Gove. Love him or loathe him, the impact of what seemed like positive changes for hashtag #STEM at the time, are having a profound effect at #Alevel. A NFER study shows fewer students in England are studying humanities such as history or music with sciences or maths. 😶 What speaks to you in this chart below? 🙂 This earlier narrowing, for me, is another indicator of how we are polarising more generally. Understanding how the Arts and Sciences can combine and inter-relate can have huge strength when moving into the workplace. Being able to understand and communicate across teams and disciplines are going to makes some superstar #employees . What do you think? 😌 As #GCSE students start making some choices for their next stage this coming Autumn, how difficult is it to maintain a breadth of study? And more importantly, how hard is it for students in #year9 to even study the GCSEs that they wish to study. An early school gripe for me, was having to study Chemistry 'O' level, rather than History. The reason? The history class was full and I had apparently a better chance than some of gaining a good 'O' level result in Chemistry.. 😂 😮 Blocking, timetabling and reduced teacher shortages means some subjects being unavailable for many. How is this shaping up for #secondary schools this Autumn. #transferable #skills #learning #schools
