I believe in the power of building relationships and empowerment. Employees want to know they make a difference and are part of team. One of the best ways to support them is through L&D; awards and recognitions are great yet continuing to support their growth provides a critical piece a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

This is something I've needed to do, but I've honestly got more experience doing it for myself than for others! It just takes a little reflection, because there is always a way to align ANY role with a larger purpose. Everyone in every role is making an important contribution to their communities and to the world. The trick is recognizing when someone needs to be reminded of it. That's something we all need once in a while.

Something I love doing is acknowledging the character that was needed in order to do the job. “Character call-outs” help people to tie their work back to their personal development. When team members know their performance has displayed something positive about who they are, it increases the weight of importance and they will want do it again, but even better. Great question!

I think its key that team members can conneet their unique values, skills and interests to organizational goals. In other words, when people feel like they can contribute by using their strengths their connection to work is SO much stronger...IMHO
