There are a lot of videos on how to verify #reliability but not so many on how to design #reliability. For those who haven’t seen it yet, I would like to share the great and entertaining video from “Electroboom” series https://lnkd.in/dDJu54kD on reliability of LED light bulbs by Mehdi Sadaghdar (So Many MISERABLY FAILED LED Lights https://lnkd.in/dMfZy2h9). He clearly explains how design choices impact reliability of LED light bulbs. Let's assume that thermal ageing is the dominant damage mechanism. The design guidelines aim to increase the lifetime of the LED bulb by reducing the temperature in the LED driver and LED filaments. 1️⃣ LED driver is located in the socket of the LED light bulb. Bigger socket results into better heat dissipation of the LED driver. 2️⃣ Increasing the number of LED filaments results into a lower current through the filaments reducing the Joule effect. If you know any other video on #dfr please share it in the comments below.

Other than increasing the lifetime of the bulb by reducing the thermal aging of the filament, the bottom circuit also eliminates a single point of failure leading to a catastrophic failure... When one bulb fails open circuit (a common failure mode), the other bulb in parallel to it keeps the whole circuit going. At the same time, the light becomes dimmer, which indicates that maintenance is required. A good maintenance process would capture and fix this before the second bulb failure occurs.

Austube Schréder’s linear lighting expert touring NZ I love delving deep into the intricacies of lighting technologies, especially when it comes to linear lighting solutions. During a brief yet enlightening visit, I had the pleasure of engaging in stimulating discussions with Greg Ruminski, the Category Manager at Austube Schréder, alongside Alex Geisler from the MHL Christchurch office. With eleven years of valuable experience at Austube Schréder and a background in engineering and operations management, Greg's expertise in LED technology and luminaire performance shone through. Our conversations delved into topics such as thermals, LM-80 tests, and the persistent issue of glare, as Greg elucidated the complexities of LED lifetimes and performance. Greg's contagious enthusiasm for LED advancements was evident, fuelled by his extensive knowledge gained from both academic achievements and hands-on experience. His insights shed light (pun intended) on how these technologies are revolutionizing the lighting industry. Do you know the intricacies of managing heat in linear extrusions? Or how to ensure an IP65 IK10 luminaire can provide a life of over 100,000 hours with proven test data? The significance of LM-80 and TM-21 reports cannot be overstated! BTW – when you see Greg – ask him about those huge container ship engines !!! #peopleinlighting #sustainablelighting #bespoke #custom #lightingdesign #whycompromise #lightability #qualitylighting

When choosing the best COB (chip on board) LED strip for your project, it is important to consider factors such as voltage, power requirements, mounting needs, and intended applications. 48V COB LED Strips have brighter brightness, higher voltage, and are suitable for large commercial or industrial projects. - The more common and convenient 12V and 24V strips are widely used and come in a variety of styles and configurations. They are often used in residential environments where a smaller, more focused lighting solution is needed. #COBledstrip #48vcobledstrip #24vcobledstrip #12vcobledstrip #addressablergbcobledstrip

Let's dive into a Frequently Asked Question for FAQ Friday.💡⬇️ Q: Is lighting installation based on PoE technology cheaper since it’s low voltage? A: PoE technology eliminates all the high voltage circuit alignment in the ceiling and any associated metal conduits required to run those high voltage wiring. Considering this benefit along with the low voltage installation labor charges, PoE based connected lighting installations tend to be significantly cost effective than traditional lighting installations. The actual savings varies for each market and is heavily influenced by the local labor charges. Let there be light 💡 Big shout to CEMA Lighting Ltd for doing a fantastic job installing our new ‘Halo’ IP20 LED lights throughout our building. It shows mailshots are not quite dead yet as they sent a brochure to me through the post, otherwise I would not of known them. They managed to complete the project in 4 days which was some going for a 30,000 square feet premises! Our lights look fantastic and even reflect like they are projecting outside! There were a few people joking MacArtney Underwater Technology Group management need to provide sunglasses for the new lights 😂. Nethertheless, once everyone’s eyes adjusted they have been hugely beneficial. The panels have a 120 degree beam angle so spread further than standard lights as well as being brighter. When you are wiring complex cable assemblies this is particularly helpful! However, the main reason we contracted CEMA to do install these lights was because they are much more environmentally friendly than traditional light fittings. CEMA estimate we will save at least 50% on energy. This equates to an annual reduction of circa 38,522 kWh. We will also now reduce our CO2 emissions by 9.14 tonnes per annum! #energy #carbonfootprintreduction #environmentallyfriendly #employeehealth #connectivity Follow #macartneygroup for the latest updates
