You're struggling to get the best results from your cell cultures... How can you optimize your conditions? 🤔 In the case of #stemcells (either embryonic stem cells [ESCs] or induced pluripotent stem cells [iPSCs]), make sure there are no karyotypic abnormalities that could explain poor-quality cells in culture. According to "Detecting Genetic Mosaicism in Cultures of Human Pluripotent Stem Cells" in Stem Cell Reports, "Particularly common changes in hPSCs are trisomies of chromosomes 1, 12, 17, and 20" (link to this #publication in the comments). Typical methods for determining genomic integrity of stem cell cultures include G-banding, KaryoStat, and qPCR. Take the time to do this #qualitycontrol, and do it on a regular basis. It's been a while since I've written about #CRISPR so I was excited to have the chance to write about CRISPR editing in stem cells for Biocompare.
