Sales Hiring. Most orgs right now are hiring SDR's or AE's. Some will not compromise on experience or skill set. But the ones that are compromising are finding real hidden gems. Hungry individuals that want to be coached, developed and trained. And have a point to prove. Hiring sales talent is not just about hiring someone that's hitting quota. It's also about the individuals drive, ambition, work experience, and culture fit. And right now, there is no such thing as talent shortage. There are plenty of sales talent out there that have talent in abundance. And are looking for a new career, an opportunity, a chance. What’s the best way to cover the territory of a sales rep on parental leave? In December, we hired a pregnant sales rep. And soon, she’ll be going on parental leave! This is how we’re currently thinking about coverage: 🏋️ Her manager will take over (most of) her pipeline - and I'll take a few deals myself too 💰 She will get full credit for all deals closed from her pipeline while she is out (no splitting commission, no double-paying since no rep will be put on this pipeline) 💻 We are hiring a part-time temp sales rep to set meetings, hold intro calls and build top of funnel for her while she is out (this is a former Parentaly sales rep who we love and continue to work with as a contractor) Important to note: our sales cycle is LONG (6-18 months). The goal with this plan is to ensure that the pregnant AE does not miss out on commission for all of her hard work to date, and also avoid her returning to work after four months out with zero new pipeline. I know this is a hot topic many of us have dealt with many times … would love to hear folks’ thoughts!

My Sales Director posted this message yesterday and it has caused quite the buzz! I find it interesting that all the people agreeing with him tend to be all the sales leaders who are doing the hiring, and the push back are from the job seekers. Sales people...look at what the Sales Leaders are saying, learn from this. Just like you need to make 100 calls to get that 1-5 responses, you have to put in the effort to sell yourself. And if no one is doing that, and you choose to be the outlier...think of how that will help you stand out.
We're currently hiring for a Sales position. We've had 45-50 people apply. Of those that have applied ... less than 15% have reached out personally, sent a separate email or tried to contact me to separate themselves from the pack. Am i expecting too much or is this common from people applying these days? This is a six to multi-six figure role and is what i consider to be one of the best sales opportunities in the State ... is it that difficult to apply for THIS job rather than just applying for A job!?
