We are happy to announce the arrival of the YMCA England & Wales Manifesto Puzzle to YMCA Cheshire. Some pacesetters are already arranging and supporting the initiative and lending a voice to the cause. Amongst the 5 key areas covered by the manifesto, this month lays emphasis on the wellbeing of young people. YMCA's initiatives across England and Wales are making a significant impact, supporting over 110,000 young people annually. These initiatives, which include school-based counselling and open-access youth services, have proven to be effective mental health interventions. The success of these programs underscores the importance of the recommendations YMCA is advocating for the next Government to adopt. Enhanced mental health support can mitigate school suspensions and exclusions, help young people develop essential life skills, and reduce loneliness. YMCA’s supported housing and school-based counselling provide crucial assistance to vulnerable youth, including those in care. YMCA urges the Government to implement these recommendations to build a robust mental health support system, improving the wellbeing of young people across England and Wales. Are you in Crewe or environ? With your support, we can get young people’s priorities back on the agenda. Join our campaign for change.
YMCA Cheshire are hosting the YMCA England & Wales Manifesto puzzle until May 29th! I had a go at building the puzzle and did a (slow but successful) job of it. The Manifesto theme of the month is Wellbeing, and as I tried and failed to put the puzzle together, I was mindful that life can often require the same kind of resilience. We might not get the pieces right at first, but they’ll fit if we keep trying. 💪🏻 Every young person should be able to build resilience and positive wellbeing, while also being able to access timely ⏱ help and support when facing physical or mental health challenges. #NowIsOurChance #YouthFirst #GeneralElection2024 #ymcaworcestershire #ymca #ymcaenglandandwales #Timeforchange

Today, on World Humanitarian Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work we do as humanitarian workers and the impact we make every day. Our dedication to supporting those in need is truly fulfilling, but it’s also important to recognize the emotional and mental challenges that come with this work. As someone who is deeply involved in humanitarian efforts, I understand firsthand how demanding and draining this field can be. It’s crucial for us to prioritize our own mental health to sustain our resilience and effectiveness in the long run. Self-care, seeking support, and maintaining a balanced approach to our work are essential practices that help us continue making a positive impact. Let’s celebrate our collective efforts and remember to take care of ourselves as well. Always remember, that you can’t pour from an empty cup. #WorldHumanitarianDay #HumanitarianWork #MentalHealthMatters #SelfCare
