It was great to be at Economist Impact's Sustainability Week Asia 2024 last week and join the discussions about ‘Smart cities, grids and energy efficient technologies’ with Dany Qian, Victor Nian and Ritu Bhandari. We discussed the critical importance of smart technology and the valuable data it generates … but also the need to get the basics right: - Designing cities for people not cars - Reducing energy-in-use via passive means first - Addressing embodied carbon through low-carbon materials and re-use of existing building wherever possible - and (always) thoroughly integrating landscape, architecture and engineering with a focus on regenerative design #EconSustainabilityAsia #economistimpact #sustainability #regenerativedesign
