Domestic tourism remains predominant at 80%, but international tourism has increased by 5% compared to the previous year, reaching 20%. Among these international visitors, the most successful Spanish wine routes are: 🍇 Gran Canaria: 66.5% 🍇 Alicante: 41.5% 🍇 Penedès: 38.5% In my weekly newsletter, I share content like this but in more detail, so you stay informed about everything that interests you 🙂 You can subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/dEzEeKqq What type of wine tourist are you or which ones do you receive at your winery? This year I have attended Vinitaly after many years. Among the four main wine fairs, Vinitaly (the other one being ProWein, Wine Paris and Millésime Bio) was the best organized one. ProWein has been for years my main focus, but I think that its limit is being in Düsseldorf. This year I could not go. The city offers too little for a global oenogastronomic crowd and the prices were skyrocketing. Maybe it's time to consider doing it in another city? We should try to remember that those working in the wine industry are directly or indirectly involved with tourism and hospitality, therefore they might want/need to go to locations offering different choices, standards and opportunity. Wine Paris: what a chaos. Ok, fine, you are in Paris, the touristic capital by excellence, but the downsides are an overcrowded public transporation system, non-existing taxis, and fair premises where one has almost to climb a hill..... Millésime Bio: very interesting fair and well organized, if only they organized the producers' stands per region and not randomly. Montpellier is a lovely and calm city, public transportation is good. To my own surprise, Vinitaly was great. Everything was clear and clean, food was great and one can taste so many different grape varieties, like nowhere else. The main train station is near. Verona is also a touristic and beautiful place to go. Vinitaly Official ProWein Millésime BIO Vinexposium #winefairs #wine #tourism #hospitality

Moldova has emerged as a surprising contender in the world of wine tourism, securing the second spot in the Wine Lover's Index 2023 with an impressive score of 8.16. Being a small Eastern European nation, we were often overlooked by mainstream tourists, but quietly cultivating a rich wine culture for centuries. Favorable climate, fertile soil, and longstanding winemaking traditions have contributed to the production of high-quality wines that are now gaining international recognition. While Portugal claimed the top position in the index, Moldova's runner-up status highlights its growing appeal as a destination for oenophiles. Visitors to Moldova can explore vast underground wine cellars, picturesque vineyards, and enjoy tastings of indigenous grape varieties, all while experiencing the country's warm hospitality and relatively undiscovered charm.(P.S. Moldova has tasy food as well.)

Are you a wine conisseur, or someone who simply enjoys wine from different countries? After my visit to the Embassy of the Czech Republic, London last night, I was introduced to some fabulous local wines from Czechia 🇨🇿, and they really were very pleasant. Unbeknown to me the local vineyards produce a number of red, white, rosé and sparkling wines, of which you rarely see in the U.K. I can arrange a bespoke wine tour of either the Bohemian or Moravian wine regions, or if time permits, both. Bohemia Wine Region At the present time the greatest vineyard area is found around the towns of Mělník, Litoměřice and Most. The territory of this region planted with vines is not continuous but rather comprises individual suitable localities lying on protected southern slopes in lower altitudes, the majority spreading around the valleys of the four great Bohemian rivers: Vltava, Elbe, Berounka and Ohře. The greater changeability of the weather conditions in particular vintages has traditionally led Bohemia's winemakers to adopt a trend of long-term cellaring in barrels. Moravia wine region The Moravia wine region stretches from the southernmost point of the Morava (March) river up as far as the area lying to the west of Brno. Altogether you will find here almost 96% of the total of registered vineyards in the Czech Republic. Please get in touch with me to discuss your requirements, as a bespoke tour can be arranged for you. As an FYI, it’s around a two hour train journey between Prague and Brno. Whilst there are nonstop flights to Prague from the UK, only Ryanair fly to Brno from London Stansted. It is therefore possible to fly into Prague and out of Vienna (the Austrian 🇦🇹 capital is a train ride away from Brno), maybe spending a couple of days there, or fly back from Brno, but to Stansted. ☎️ 020 8891 3169 📧 paul@wottravel.co.uk #visitczechia #travelgossip #czechia #czechrepublic #winelover #winetasting #winetours

Bounce has ranked Moldova second for their Best places to visit for wine connoisseurs (yay) Though it may not be the first country that springs to mind when considering wine tourism, the Eastern European country of Moldova is a hidden gem with a rich winemaking history that stretches back over 5,000 years. Moldova’s vineyards cover 122-kilo hectares, which works out as 3.6% of this small country’s area, more than any other on this list. The Codru region, located in the central part of the country, is one of Moldova’s most important and historically significant wine-producing areas. There are also 21 wine tours and tastings per million people, taking in the country’s extensive network of underground wine cellars, the most famous of which is the Mileștii Mici - Guinness Book Record holder. 🍷 The Wine Route of the DO Pla de Bages, under study. In the Bages area there are 26 projects that produce wine, the vast majority of which are wineries but also winegrowers without a winery.
