Towards a Greener Future I Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project I L&T Construction (Renewables) Central India’s largest floating #solar project, this 90 MW installation at Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh, is a key milestone in India’s green journey. The plant is divided into 14 islands, the area of each island is 300 X 200 mtr. Built by L&T for SJVN Green Energy Limited, this state-of-the-art solar plant is expected to generate approximately 196.5 million units (MU) of energy annually, leading to a reduction of 2.3 lakh tonne of CO2 emissions each year. Madhya Pradesh Launches North India's Largest Floating Solar Power Plant Madhya Pradesh has commissioned the largest floating solar project in central and north India, generating 90 MW of energy at #Omkareshwar. The ₹646 crore project, developed under the Union Ministry of Renewable Energy, is now the largest solar park in #India and the most prominent floating solar initiative in the region. Moving forward, the project was constructed on the backwaters of the Omkareshwar dam on a Build, Own, and Operate basis for 25 years, with a tariff rate of ₹3.26 per unit. Executed by #SJVNGreenEnergyLimited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, it has increased the company’s total installed capacity to 2,466.50 MW. In its first year, the solar plant is expected to generate 196.5 million units of electricity, with a total output of 4,629.3 million units projected over the next 25 years. This initiative will also reduce carbon emissions by 2.3 lakh tonnes, supporting the central government’s mission to achieve #netzerocarbonemissions by 2070. We faced various challenges during this project, such as torrential rain, floods, moderate winds to gusty winds, scorching sunburns, and waves & weathered rock surfaces.  We found solutions, adjusted, conserved each time, not only has this experience strengthened our team, but it also enhanced our ability to deliver future bigger & complex projects with even greater efficiency & bold innovations. This project has seen many firsts of its kind unveiled, including the introduction of a new anchoring technique called 'rock bolt anchoring' to combat the hard rock surface for the first time globally. The Ciel Terre Int. R&D team developed and customized this technology through a rigorous testing methodology that spanned several years. We also introduced the world's first customized floating invertor barge based on reinforced fiber glass polymer, a unique design that can withstand hard site conditions and is class approved. When we embarked on this journey 15 months ago, we knew it would be a real challenging and tough project, but we also knew that with the right technology, right team, and right mindset, we would achieve success, the hard work, dedication, and collaboration displayed in this moment are a live testament of it. Today's Manufacturing Must-Reads! Juniper Green Energy has signed two agreements to supply 480 MW of electricity from its solar-wind hybrid projects to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) and NTPC Limited. The GUVNL Hybrid Phase 1 project includes 190 MW of capacity (140 MW solar and 50 MW wind) and will produce 412 million units of #electricity annually. This will reduce 384,067 tonnes of CO2 and supply clean #energy to 82,016 homes. The NTPC Hybrid Tranche -1 project consists of 290 MW of capacity (210 MW solar and 80 MW wind) in #Gujarat and #Rajasthan.
