Seeing that WE ARE THIS FAMILY, here is a guide to help you understand us a bit better! 1. No. You are under NO obligation to lace up and join us. 2. Yes. You are more than welcome to either participate at the race and run or walk or stroll. 3. Yes. You can absolutely come along as moral support and cheer us on as we cross the finish line. Or act as our pacer or just toss snacks and drinks at us at different miles. 4. Yes. We won't be mad or disappointed if you take a pass and sleep in. 5. For sure, if you live in the neighborhood we will be running through, give us a shout as we wiz on by. Our boys did this last year and it was such a boost! 6. Yes. We will probably talk about our holiday morning accomplishment. It won't be excessive but we will do all we can to insert the fact that we did do a holiday race throughout the day. 7. Yeah. My husband WILL wear his 'finisher's' hardware throughout the day. 8. We do it because we love it. And because every race we run has proceeds going to an non-profit that provides money, awareness and advocacy for the cause. 9. It is the closest ordinary people without any type of super power or even tremendous discipline get to join countless folks to achieve a physical feat and get cheered on and for! 10. We have been doing this for over 30 years. We do it in our town, or the town we happen to be in during the holiday. It is usually around an hour if you go for the race and linger a bit. 11. While we run several races a year, the holiday runs are always the most fun because folks come out in costume and bring with them all the holiday cheer. There is still time to register for holiday races in your community. Go ahead and run, walk or even volunteer. It is a fun and rewarding day. My 16-year-old son is a member of the Evanston Township High School Rowing program. This team was founded in 2022 by tireless Coach Luciana Ruiz https://lnkd.in/g9_wDexX, not just to make the sport of rowing available at ETHS, but to ensure that every student has access to all of rowing's many benefits: high school rowers build strong ties with each other, grow physically, learn the rewards of teamwork and competition, face adversity and gain significant advantages in the college application process. This is why the program has been, and will always be, completely dues free.  This is incredibly rare, and for good reason - rowing is expensive! The operating budget for the ‘23/’24 is $75,000 spread across 50 club and varsity rowers. That number does not include the longer term goals: attending regional and national regattas; and major equipment upgrades, including competitive boats, additional oars, an equipment shed and support equipment (trailer, tents, cooking supplies, etc.). I post this primarily to brag on my son's accomplishments, but if any of you fine folks are willing donate some money to the team (and are in a financial position to do so), it would really help the effort. How do you know when someone is training for a marathon? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you. I’m training for the Edinburgh Marathon next month. What’s more, is that I am doing it for an amazing disability charity called Canine Partners, which provides assistance dogs (a bit like guide dogs) to help people with disabilities live full and independent lives. For an idea of what I’m doing to prepare for the Edinburgh Marathon on May 26th: My average is up at 60km (37.5mi) run per week, which now with 4 weeks to go will slowly taper down until the big day. I’ve just run the longest single training run before the marathon - just under 28km (17.3mi) this morning before work, which meant getting up at 5AM. It’s 14.2km below what I’ll be running on the day, so in 4 weeks time I shall be entering unknown territory in that last hour. I just need to trust to my training plan… Thank you and wish me luck!

🌟 Celebrating Resilience and Team Spirit! 🌟 Here’s a video of our incredible team, whose spirits remain unbroken even after a challenging 9-2 match. This season has been a whirlwind for our group of players, many of whom never had playing time or hadn’t participated in a tournament before. Despite facing tough defeats like 9-0, 5-0, 4-0, and 3-0 in our last six games, we embraced a new goal for our final match of the year: simply to score a goal. Not only did we achieve that, but we ended up scoring not one, but two goals! This journey taught us the value of setting small, achievable targets, maintaining consistency, and putting in the hard work to eventually see results. Our joy in this game was unmatched, showing that victory is not solely measured by the scoreline, but by the camaraderie and determination we built as a team. ⏱ 15 days and counting until Prodactive’s Big Adventure 2024 in support of Scotty's Little Soldiers – which means time for another competition! 🏆   We’re now just 15 days out before Philip R. and I embark on our 2024 ‘Big Adventure’ on 8-9 June, which this year is running a lap of the Isle of Wight over 2 days. We've previously run the East Highland Way (82 miles) and the West Highland Way (100 miles – meant to be 96, but we accidentally added on 4 miles) in Scotland.   This year we’re supporting Scotty's Little Soldiers, a hugely impactful charity which supports children of UK servicemen and women who lost their lives while serving their country. In the past we have run ‘for the hell of it’, but in line with our mission to help unlock potential and our support for UK Armed Forces leavers through our Smartsheet programme, we wanted to highlight the work Scotty’s does. This incredible charity changes the lives of bereaved military children by supporting them and helping to unlock their potential. Just one fantastic example is that of Poppy Swinnerton, who is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu junior world champion aged 15, and dreams of becoming a UFC fighter. https://lnkd.in/eAcVWXq5    We’ve set up an event dashboard on our website, which is unsurprisingly driven from a Smartsheet dashboard, and here you can find out more about the challenge and Scotty’s Little Soldiers. And during the event we will be updating on our progress via our dashboard as we go.   🙌 So how can you get involved?    You’re more than welcome to join Phil and me and run as much or as little as you want – or you can donate to Scotty’s and / or enter our competition to win 10 hours of our professional services support by guessing most closely the total moving time it takes us to complete the route.
