My 16-year-old son is a member of the Evanston Township High School Rowing program.
This team was founded in 2022 by tireless Coach Luciana Ruiz https://lnkd.in/g9_wDexX, not just to make the sport of rowing available at ETHS, but to ensure that every student has access to all of rowing's many benefits: high school rowers build strong ties with each other, grow physically, learn the rewards of teamwork and competition, face adversity and gain significant advantages in the college application process.
This is why the program has been, and will always be, completely dues free. This is incredibly rare, and for good reason - rowing is expensive!
The operating budget for the ‘23/’24 is $75,000 spread across 50 club and varsity rowers. That number does not include the longer term goals: attending regional and national regattas; and major equipment upgrades, including competitive boats, additional oars, an equipment shed and support equipment (trailer, tents, cooking supplies, etc.).
I post this primarily to brag on my son's accomplishments, but if any of you fine folks are willing donate some money to the team (and are in a financial position to do so), it would really help the effort. Contributions are fully tax deductible, entirely voluntary and deeply appreciated - Click Here To Fund: https://lnkd.in/gbfAnktR
Thanks!
(If you do give, please let me know via private message—I'd love to thank you personally, and the link above will not report your donation to me)
