It's a pretty perfect time capsule, representing not only the typical brand of humor of films of its ilk, but also actually playing up clichés, quite besides the then almost obligatory helping of tits and ass. And don't get me wrong, there's nothing at all subtle about this movie, but that's exactly why it's quite such entertaining nostalgia. https://lnkd.in/gHsAHSUY #stephenbiro #homework #80strashfun #80sromp #tanda #unearthedclassics

Check out latest review on Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice (dare I saw it one more time?😂)!!
Is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice the right mix of nostalgia and fresh energy? 🪲 I recently watched the sequel to the 1988 classic, and with Michael Keaton’s iconic return, Jenna Ortega’s charm, and the strong presence of all three leading women, it was a fun ride! But did it meet my expectations? Check out my review to find out more. 🎬 👉 https://lnkd.in/gk-qTGaW #Beetlejuice #MovieReview #MichaelKeaton #JennaOrtega #FilmCritique #Entertainment #Nostalgia #ScreensInFocus #Blogger #Podcaster #Filmfanatic #TVlover #Couchpotato #Cinephile #Movies

I've been getting some very interesting reactions to this film 😍 I had nothing to do with writing the script (it was written and directed by Nakiah Varcianna; I have an EP credit) and I had no creative input to what you see on screen, yet people are still perceiving me within the film. Whether it's the look Rita gives Mike when he comes up with excuses about why he can't follow his dreams, or my voice in their head when they are wondering whether to take that risk (sometimes years after we had a conversation): somehow this film reminds people of me - and jolts them into action. This has left me reflecting on several things: 1) Why we are attracted to the projects we choose take on and take into our hearts - whether as filmmakers or audience 2) How we often don't realise - or recognise - the profound ways in which we we can subconsciously impact people, and how that impact can last a lifetime 3) How the films we make - even when primarily intended as entertainment - can be the catalyst in someone else's growth and has the potential to change their life. Bookyville is already punching above its weight, and it's a beautiful thing. P.S. Apologies to anyone who is haunted by my voice in their head: just walk towards your dream step by step and I promise my voice will recede 😅

Movie Sound Have you ever strained to hear the dialogue in a film? Is the music too loud or playing over the words so you can’t hear them? If you have a good soundman, the director or post-production team will catch or improve it? If not, are we in such a hurry to deliver projects that sound is no longer necessary? So many lower-budget films take shortcuts that can’t be fixed later, and that’s a shame. If, as filmmakers, we are in love with the process, it pays to slow down and do things correctly. Why do films sound good in a theater, but when played on TV you can’t understand a word spoken? It pays, both for distribution success, audiences, and the pocketbook over the long haul, to listen prudently on the set. It only takes seconds to make it right.

NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO: THE DEPARTED Attention Film Lovers, This is my most recent YouTube video that analyzes the subtext of one of my favorite movies of all time, The Departed. More specifically, it explores the sexuality of the character Colin Sullivan, played by Matt Damon, in a pre-proposition-8 world. It is one of my best videos so far, so let me know what you think! Like, share, and subscribe if you love nerding out over movies! https://lnkd.in/g6DzJSkT
