🚀 Thanks Maria Rotilu from Openseed VC for another fantastic training workshop with our Investor team at Oxford Seed Fund! Maria shared her career journey from a management consultant at Deloitte, investing at Hustle Fund and Octopus Ventures to founding Openseed VC, a pre-seed fund. Maria talked to our team about her fundraising strategy targeting experienced operators. Our main take aways from the chat: 🙋♀️ Build your personal brand and use your authentic voice; be consistent, build relationships over time. 🤝 Build a support system of advisors and VCs who have 'done it before'. Being a solo GP can be lonely - so build your network, and have a process/system in place for selecting investments. ⏲️ If you want to start your own fund, starting planning it early to align with the right partners and develop your approach.

30 days to conquer my post fundraising catch-up & productivity hangover 🤢 After 6 months of brutal fundraising to final-close my £5m solo VC fund, I have scars. No not physical or mental health ones. Of accumulated catch-up work, a productivity stack to rebuild, an overflowing inbox (I was at 0 in Feb 😭) and a firm to basically upgrade but with hyper-limited resources... ...and as a solo founder 😅 So I want to set myself the challenge to get to inbox 0, rebuild myself into an execution machine, fix our tech stack (enhanced by our very own Ralph King 's AI), and set the foundation of our deeptech investment firm.
