BCG’s analysis of total shareholder returns in the energy sector from 2019 through 2023 reveals significant performance differences across and within subsectors. Top TSR leaders excelled in cost management, being 35% more likely to achieve savings through proactive, strategic reduction programs. This approach enhanced earnings, improved performance, and built portfolio resilience, resulting in significantly greater margin expansion compared to peers. For example, top-performing integrated O&G companies used strategic cost reduction programs to drive margin expansion and maintain cost competitiveness through cycles. I'm delighted to be on this list 💚 but surprised that I'm one of only four women in the top 20 ⁉️Many names of great women in #sustainability and #circularity are missing. How come? It looks like the list was compiled by artificial "intelligence" without aware or intelligent humans in the loop. #AI is all too often biased against women - much more biased than we humans are. I'd love some more transparency here, this is one of the most important parameters and an essential starting point for #responsibleAI. Why is AI biased against women? Here are a few key reasons: 🧩 Bias in training data 🧩 Women missing in training data 🧩 Reinforcement through feedback loops, e.g. user prompts, back translation 🧩 AI isn’t great at understanding complex social dynamics and resorts to simplification and stereotypes 🧩 Lack of attention to the issue and deliberate action to address it Such #bias aren't just harmless quirks of machines, they have real-life implications on service quality, resource distribution (think jobs, loans, etc.) and much more. What can we do to create better, fairer AI? 🧩 Improve algorithms by increasing diversity in AI development teams 🧩 Raise awareness of the problem 🧩 Implement human-in-the-loop systems 🧩 Integrate ethical principles into the design process #womeninAI #ethicalAI #sustainablebusiness

"Fostering PURPOSE in people" is one of my favourite answers to "HOW do #leaders maintain team motivation?????" 1 month ago we had a "Reaching C-level" session (a partnership between #FELPT and Odgers Berndtson). It was a refreshing experience (and we are now proud to share a "sneak peek" of it) in an inspiring session with some reference leaders of the #energy sector: Silvia Barata, Nuno Fitas Mendes and Hália Oliveira. Further, and I kept thinking about it throughout the session, I am also proud to have these “authentic leadership” lessons EVERY DAY at work with my leader, Ana Isabel Barillas. The "intrinsic drive to do MORE and BE BETTER" (reiterated in the session) is something that I see with "more frequency than normal" in our Future Energy Leaders Portugal cohort. This is why I am so inspired and happy to be part of it. At this week’s JCI Townhall, Kathleen (Katie) McGinty, VP & Chief Sustainability & External Relations Officer, was energized and shared three key ways we’re making AI data centers energy-economized and climate-protective:   𝟭. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱: A chiller designed for the job uses much less energy – 78% less in the case of YORK YVAM chillers for data centers. 𝟮. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹: Data Centers run 24/7 but not all days are created equal. The hardest days are energy-intensive, while quiet days require efficiency mode. Use digital solutions like our OpenBlue platform to optimize performance – reducing energy usage by 14% even on the busiest days.  𝟯.
