Very high professional level across all the company with lots of unique characters with unique experiences. Great opportunity to learn! 3. Aligned and clear commitment to energy transition and decarbonisation of industries by the management. This will contribute to making life on our planet better! 4. IN THE NORTH, NEW ENERGY SECTOR IS THRIVING AND OPPORTUNITIES IN IT ALONG WITH IT ⚡ New Energy Career Event we co-organised took place this time last week. It was a great place for companies and job-seekers, professionals and students to connect. Lively discussions at the business market and inspiring presentations and workshops confirmed that the North of the Netherlands is a hub for developments towards a carbon-free future. It was apparent that a lot of energy knowledge is concentrated in this region! As we heard at the event - sustainable future is being enabled by the research, but it does not end there. It is the cross-section with the business community that can drive the innovations further and turn them into reality. I'm excited to share the results of my summer 2023 research internship at the Technical University of Munich, Chair of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems! 🌞🌬️ During my time under Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Hamacher's supervision, I conducted an in-depth study on decarbonizing the electrical power system of Kastellorizo, a small Greek non-interconnected island. My report, now available with DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.13936256, covers: • Analysis of the current diesel-based power system • Energy demand projections • Assessment of local solar and wind potential • Two optimized scenarios for a cost-effective, sustainable energy transition Key highlights: ✅ Used linear programming models to determine optimal system configurations ✅ Proposed strategies aligned with local and national decarbonization targets ✅ Evaluated financial feasibility and long-term climate benefits I'm grateful for this opportunity to contribute to sustainable energy solutions and for the valuable data provided by Διαχειριστής Ελληνικού Δικτύου Διανομής Ηλεκτρικής Ενέργειας Α.Ε.
