Bersin Study on Reveals Key Impacts AI Technology Will Have on HR Tech in 2025 In alignment with his keynote address at the 2024 HR Technology & Exposition conference, Josh Bersin released an article titled “HR Tech 2025: AI Redefines the Landscape”. In the study, Bersin explores the key changes AI is having on the HR technology space, a summary of which we’ve highlighted below: Core HR Platforms Are Evolving Quickly – Bersin discusses how companies like Workday, Oracle, & ADP are using large language models in various applications to make their systems more productive. Recruiting and Talent Acquisition Technology is Red Hot – Bersin expects AI to develop end to end recruitment processes through conversational AI, allowing for managing of candidate relationships and fielding questions from managers and interviewers about the job, the process, and the candidate. Talent Marketplaces and Internal Mobility Programs Are Expanding Rapidly – AI is transforming the talent marketplace/internal career system, enabling companies to more easily assess internal mobility, gig work, project work, developmental assignments, and stretch assignments across the enterprise. AI solutions are developing resource management systems allowing project managers to source talent for projects based on skill groups and employee availability. L&D Tools and Platforms Heating Up Fast – In the coming years, Bersin expects a shift from learning management systems (LMS) to learning experience platforms (LXPs), which utilize virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) as a delivery mechanism for training. Skills Systems, Assessments, and Taxonomies Are All Advancing Quickly – By 2025, Bersin anticipates we will see greater use of AI to identify hidden leaders, specialist leaders, and technical and project leaders by skill. Employee Experience Turbocharged but Fragmented – The most obvious use case in the employee experience realm is AI enabled employee chatbots to field employee questions. Currently, these chatbots only excel at the specific tasks they are trained for like recruitment or HR/management information, so HR tech leaders will need to rationalize and integrate these specialized agents into more holistic, integrated experiences. This remains a challenge given the diverse range of questions an employee can ask – about benefits, timecards, vacation policies, filing a harassment claim, exploring development opportunities, etc. This shift to a “systemic HR approach” via AI-powered experience is challenging, particularly because accuracy is sacrosanct in this area – AI solutions that provide incorrect policies or misleads employees are unacceptable. AI is the buzziest of buzzwords across every industry. There is ample opportunity for AI to optimize the HR tech space, presenting opportunities for incumbent HR platform solutions to partner, acquire, or align with current AI solution providers to enhance their product offerings.
