To Win in the Marketplace, You Must First Win in the Workplace : Doug Conant’s quote, “To win in the marketplace, you must first win in the workplace,” captures a key business truth: success starts with people. Studies show that companies with engaged employees are 21% more profitable and 17% more productive than those with disengaged teams. This makes employee engagement a critical driver of business success. The Power of Engagement: When employees feel valued and connected to their work, they contribute more effectively to the company’s goals. According to Gallup, companies with high engagement experience 41% lower absenteeism and 59% less turnover. These numbers demonstrate the real impact of focusing on workplace culture and engagement. Key Elements of a Winning Workplace: Clear Communication – Transparent goals align employees with the company’s vision, boosting motivation and performance. Growth Opportunities – Companies that invest in employee development see 10% higher retention rates. Recognition – Employees who feel recognized are 2.7 times more likely to be highly engaged. Work-Life Balance – Flexible work arrangements can reduce employee stress by 30%, improving productivity. Diversity & Inclusion – Diverse teams are 35% more likely to outperform competitors. Conclusion By creating an engaging and supportive workplace, companies not only retain top talent but also drive market success. Winning in the marketplace starts with winning in the workplace.

Building on Shera Haliczer's great post about why employees can become disengaged, we've also found working with our clients at Mesh Digital, LLC that 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀—while holding them 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 and 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲—is essential. But let's not forget the importance of providing that 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 and 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆. After all, even the best innovations started with a few small, iterative changes (and maybe a coffee spill or two)! ☕💡 By fostering an environment where it's safe to take risks, we enable our teams to innovate and stay engaged. Why Are Employees Disengaged? Let’s Break It Down Employee engagement is critical for business success, but disengagement remains a challenge. Here are 5 of the key causes of disengagement and their impact: 1. Lack of Purpose Challenge: When work lacks meaning, motivation and morale drop. Outcome: Reduced innovation and productivity follow. 2. Poor Leadership Communication Challenge: Inconsistent communication creates confusion and mistrust. Outcome: Misaligned goals and teamwork issues arise. 3. Limited Growth Opportunities Challenge: Feeling stuck leads to lower enthusiasm and higher turnover. Outcome: Turnover costs rise, and internal talent is lost. 4. Work Overload or Lack of Resources Challenge: Burnout results in disengagement and health issues. Outcome: Productivity suffers, absenteeism increases, and healthcare costs rise. 5. Toxic Workplace Culture Challenge: A negative environment impacts well-being and collaboration. Outcome: The company’s brand and ability to attract talent are damaged. Let’s be honest — there is much more - let’s talk about it and make significant change. If you’re seeing any of these challenges within your organization, let’s connect! I’d love to discuss how to transform disengagement into a thriving, productive, and engaged workforce. I want the industry to know that my team is the best in the business. Naturally, that comes with companies and recruiters trying to steal them away. And I want my team to choose to stay. I want them to stay for the mission. I want them to stay for the challenge. I want them to stay because we equip them, recognize and reward them. They know they are highly valued and can earn a great living. They feel the purpose and make a difference in the lives of many colleagues, customers and patients we serve. I want them to stay because of the high-quality products and services, the leadership team who believes in them and adds value to their work, and the company culture. Company culture is a critical factor in employee retention, significantly influencing job satisfaction and long-term loyalty. A positive and inclusive culture fosters a sense of belonging, motivating employees to stay committed to the organization. When employees feel valued and recognized for their contributions, they are more likely to remain engaged and productive. Plus, a supportive culture that promotes work-life balance/work-life integration, professional development, and open communication can reduce turnover rates by addressing the diverse needs and aspirations of employees. Zac Amos says it well: "Businesses can retain their best staff and build a more motivated team by creating a shared sense of purpose through core values." #Culture #Workplace #Team #Purpose #Values #Employees

🌟 How to Reduce Turnover and Retain Talent 🌟 In today's competitive landscape, retaining our best employees is crucial for success. Here are key strategies I've discovered to keep top talent engaged and satisfied: 1️⃣ Cultivate a Positive Workplace Culture: Foster an environment that promotes collaboration, diversity, and respect. When employees feel valued, they are less likely to seek opportunities elsewhere. 2️⃣ Invest in Professional Development: Encourage continuous learning through workshops, courses, and mentorship programs. Providing growth opportunities not only benefits the employee but also the organization. 3️⃣ Implement Regular Feedback Loops: Create space for open communication. Regular feedback sessions help employees feel heard and valued, and they provide an opportunity to address any concerns before they escalate. 4️⃣ Recognise and Reward Contributions: Celebrate achievements—big and small! Recognition goes a long way in making employees feel appreciated and part of the team. 5️⃣ Promote Work-Life Balance: Offering flexible schedules and remote work options shows that you value employees' well-being. A balanced employee is a happy employee! 6️⃣ Strengthen Employee Engagement Initiatives: Organize team-building activities and social events that foster relationships and build a community within the workplace. ✅ The Outcome: Happy, engaged employees are less likely to leave, leading to lower turnover rates and a more productive workforce.
